It is. A very well known scam by foreign 3rd world criminals. Ignore, or block the call.

I received the same call today at 12:15 pm. Yes, this is a scam, but to presume that the perpetrators are from the 3rd world is unfounded and discriminatory, unless you happen to have factual proof, in which case put it forward.

my mom received a call at her home where i used to live from this number they stated they were the IRS and they've been sending me notices regarding underpaid taxes to this address. when she told them no mail had ever been received they said they'll be showing up at my workplace to serve a subpoena- but they needed to verify more info.  i needed to call them back at this number and talk to a Sam Taylor- except the man had  thick indian accent.  If the IRS wanted me- they surely would have my current address and workplace information- no old outdated information.  She gave them no information about me and i looked this page up and realized it was a scam which was my first inclination. what slimebags. I'll bet they do get a sucker every once in a while with this one.

Just got a voicemail from a woman with a foreign accent talking very fast. Sounded threatening from what I could make out, like I was in danger of a lawsuit. Relieved to see its just another scam.

Just received a call on my machine from this number. Heavily accented male voice said I needed to return this call immediately, "do not ignore this call". If I did ignore it, all he could do is "wish me luck". Ignoring!

We received a call for our son who has never lived at our current address or used this phone number.  It was a woman with a thick Indian accent.  We couldn't understand much of what she said - she spoke very - fast but we did understand "attorney" and it was said in a very threatening way.

Two calls in the last few days, different voices, identical script, telling me to return the call "the minute you receive this message, if we do not hear from you or your attorney of record I can only wish you luck as the situation unfolds on you!" They both referred to me by a version of my name that I do not generally use. Will block call.

All you have to do is google it. The majority of the IRS scam calls (along with the Government grant and microsoft  computer scam) are coming from India and Pakistan.  Badge is correct on that sore.

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Called the number back from my work phone this morning.  The man who answered stated his name was Kevin Fernandez, and that this was the United States Treasury Department.   He gave me permission to record the conversation, but pretty quickly started insulting me and hung up.  His accent could be Pakistani.  This is very obviously a scam caller, people should understand that the federal government does not do business this way.

I received a message left on my answering machine from this number.  The call was from 'Jason' who spoke extremely fast and said that either I or my attorney of record must return this call immediately.  If I did not return the call immediately, he wished me well as 'the situation unfolded'.

Same as above "do not ignore this call"  women speaking very quickly with an Indian accent. I listened to the voicemail 4 times and still couldn't make it all out.  "return this call immediately" 'wish you luck as the situation unfolds".

I'm better off taking my chances and preparing for the "situation".

I've received two voicemails from a female caller talking rapidly and with a very strong accent. I could not understand a lot of the message but heard no company name or her name. I've worked with a lot of people from India and some from Pakistan and if she is from that area her English is much worse than I would expect from any legit business calling customers in the USA.

    NMSU Police Department
This number was reported as possibly involved in fraudulent practices trying to get people to pay them money.  When we called and identified ourselves as the NMSU Police Department looking into a complaint of harassing phone calls, the man who answered (who first identified himself as being with the US Treasury) immediately hung up.  When we called back, he asked, "Why are you wasting my time?" and hung up again.  Based on our review, this phone number is not tied to the US Treasury, and the individuals using it are engaged in illegal practices.
