They said they were from NYSEG. This is a scam.

I received a phone call from "Dana" asking to have me switch to a lower rate..all I needed to supply was my POD number..I told her I wasn't interested and if I could call back at a later time to review this..and she hung up on me.  They've been calling multiple times and never leave a message.  I just called back and it gives options to speak with a rep--remove your number from the call list (I did that one--we'll see) , and they also have a prompt to allow them to be reported about their marketing practices.  Didn't go that far but if they continue to call I will.  Not quite sure what exactly they want but I'm just fine with my NYSEG bill..the last time I got roped into something like this it was with North American Power and they basically up-charged me for my energy services.  Ridiculous.  

So far we have rec'd 4-5 calls from this number.  Reported them to the donotcall.gov.  They are becoming very annoying.

After 50 calls from this number I answered. They were going to tell me how to save money on my Electric Bill. I asked if they were calling from my company or someone else. They hug up on me. I called back and chose #2 remove my name from their call list. They are trying to get you to change your supplier. Cheap first bill than tripled after that. It happened to a friend. Beware...

Just had the same issue with this number.  Started off by saying I was entitled to a lower rate deduction on my NYSEG electric bill.

When I challenged them if they were NYSEG, they got all defensive before admitting that they were not NYSEG.  I just disconnected at that point.

The reverse look up reports back to a cell phone.

I received a call today telling me National Grid will be giving me a new lower rate because they are purchase electricity from another supplier.  They asked to verify my name, address and account number.  I told the girl who called to give me the account number she has and I would tell her if it is correct.  She said I had to give her the account number.  I told her if she was calling from National Grid, she would have the number.  She hung up on me. SCAM!!

called today - left no message - from reading other comments posted here , sounds like a scam call looking for your private information- NEVER,NEVER,NEVER EVER give out any personal information to any unsolicited callers!!!!!!!!!! Be your own best defense and DON'T BE FOOLED !

These messages are very annoying and I would like to have a way to eliminate them.

Received a call from this # this afternoon...no caller ID, and no msg. left.

Got a call from this number.  NASTY WOMAN.  First off she asked for Mr. or Mrs. and used my maiden name.  Clear sign that it is a telemarketer as all of my utility companies have my married name on them.  When I asked what this was in reference to, she said it was in reference to my National Grid (utility) bill.  When I politely informed her that I was on the Do Not Call Registry and should not be getting bothered by telemarketers, she got very snotty with me and proceeded to ask me if I had read my National Grid bill recently.  Of course I have but since I knew she was a spammer, I asked her "Are you from National Grid?"  To which she got all huffy and asked me again if I had read my bill.  I said to her "It's a simple yes or no question, you're either with National Grid or you're not."  She replied in a nasty tone "Maybe you should read your National Grid Bill and then you would know what I was talking about and then I could take you off my list."  These people are spammers trying to sell you utilities from their company.  Unless they specifically identify themselves as being from your utility company, and go through the company's customer validation steps, do not even waste your breath talking to them, unless you're like me and like to give them a hard time.  I figure if they called to bother me, why not bother them back.

Yep! It's a scam to jack your electric bill. If you have caller ID call back after you hang up and choose option 2 to be taken off their calling list.

Woman did not identify herself.  Talk me she was calling about lowering my National Grid bill.  I told the woman it was a scam since she did not identify the company she was with.  I told her to take my number out of the system.  I did call back and press 2 to be put in their do not call file.

How is it these unavailable callers can continue to call people on the Do Not Call Registry and I have an unlisted number??? This number is 917-398-9352, and the only information I can pull up is it's a Peerless Network of NY LLC-NY. When do these callers get punished for their actions???? They never leave a message! Ridiculous!

This post has two parts.  The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list.  The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.

1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone.
The DNC list is intended to help stop calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.
* The call was not from a legitimate telemarketer
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

Received a call this evening from a man who first said he was with National Grid. Claimed National Grid was giving everyone a rate reduction.  He wanted me to give him my account number "grab your bill real quick and give me your account number".  I said "if you are with National Grid, you know my account number, and I will not give you any information. I also told him that there are way too many scams out there.
