This fellow with an Indian accent called claiming to be "Brian Williams" with the Treasury Inspector's Office. He initially asked for my brother-in-law which was odd, the he wanted to talk to someone with my first name and my wife's maiden name. He said there was a warrant out to collect taxes or my property will be seized. I asked to talk to a supervisior and he said they would call me back.

Same thing to me just now.  That's why I'm on the internet and typing this right now. :)  Seemed a little odd I told him.  I have my taxes done by a CPA each year, and they are done properly and accurately.  Plus, isn't the IRS responsible for taxes, not the US Treasury?  Must b a scam.

Scam scam scam.  I wasn't available when they called. They left 2 automated messages on my answering machine a couple of hours apart.  I called them and left a message to come get me. There is no debtors prison any more. I really hope people don't fall for this it's kind of scary to get the call saying that there is a warrant and they're coming to seize your property that's not how the IRS works.

Total scam originating in either India or Pakistan.  IRS tax disputes are 90% civil matters and resolved administratively.

This is a scam operating our of India or Pakistan.  Hindi accent is a dead giveaway of a scam.  Ignore the calls, block them and do not return them.

Total scam.  Ignore the calls and do  not return them. Block them.  These calls are not random; they have a lot of your financial and some personal information.  They pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.  They are looking for vulnerable people.  If you talk to them they may think you are vulnerable in some sense or another and hammer you with even more calls.

They left a message saying that I should call back and talk to Bryan Williams to avoid furthur issues or property Seizure.  They identified themselves as the treasury department. From what I've read hear it's a scam. I recieved a call from someone on another number on Friday and they pretended to be with the IRS. I say pretended because I called back and someone by the name of Steve answered. I asked him if he was with the IRS and he said no, so I said Goodbye.
Be careful people this is a scam trying to get your money. With it having a New York phone number they might be targeting conservatives.
    That's my opinion.

Received a call from a 'Sam Smith' this morning, had an Indian accent, said he was from the Treasury
department.  Call was from NY & I told him to come & get me, I've got a 45 with his name on it.  Was a scam, because the IRS or the US Treasury never calls you on the phone, they always notify by US mail. Do not give these people the time of day.
