- RogersI received a similar call voicemail on my cell from a Christine Moore from Howard and Steiner, stating I have a complaint against me. And myself or a lawyer needs to contact them or a claim will be filed against me. I'm not calling this BS back after reading similar scams with other phone numbers. Thanks for the heads up!
- Caller: Howard & Steiner
- JReceived a message claiming there was a complaint and they needed to speak to my legal representative.
- KIM WEISSRECEIVED A CALL SAYING TO CALL AND A COMPLAINT AGAINST ME AND NOT CALLING
- Silas AlfredstonAlso received same call & message.
- Caller: "howard and steiner"
- GFReceived this same call from "Christine Moore" from "Howard and Steiner" referencing "a complaint they have received." This appears to be the same script as those others above. Will not call back due to potential fraud as petition and complaint service is usually handled by a process server in person, not over the phone. The number is from Oklahoma and a google search of "Howard and Steiner" brought up nothing related to any Attorneys or any business in Oklahoma.
- jayJust received a call from this number n same message. They also called yesterday with the same message.

- Annoyed| 1 replyI received a call from this number on 3/3 and 3/4 and I allowed it go to voicemail. The message left said "This is Christine Moore from Howard and Steiner you are receiving this message in reference to a complaint we have received. Please contact our office at 918-201-2016. We need to speak to you or your legal counsel immediately. However, if we do not receive a response we will document your file and submit it for processing. Again the phone number where we can be reached is 918-201-2016." The person leaving the message did not state a name that the message was being left for. It was a generic message with no identifying information for the recipient and no reference number was given. I searched for the number, Howard and Steiner, and Christine Moore and there are no Google hits for any of the information given. The only information found on a search was that the number originates in Oklahoma. This appears to be come sort of scam and needs to stop!

- Pat| 1 replyI received a call today from this number saying they were representing Rice Financial and trying to collect on a payday loan from 2014. They said they had been emailing me for a year; I must have ignored them. They knew my name, address, phone #, email and where I banked. They said they had been trying to collect the money from my bank account and there was not enough there. She never said the amount. (I have never taken a payday loan). She said they were going to forward the info to our local prosecutor for Federal Charges, but maybe we could work something out even though the statute of limitations had run out for repayment. Hmmm... Scam!
- Caller: Rice Financial
- Tracie LaRocheI received a call from this number most recently 3/4/15 from a Christine Moore and she said that she was calling from Howard and Steiner. They said they needed my lawyer information because I was being sued for brank fraud and check fraud with Citiziens bank.
- Caller: Howard and Steiner
- Tracie replies to PatThe person I spoke to said that were calling from Howard and Steiner and that I was being investigated for bank fraud and bounced checks from a bank I don't even bank with. When I called back the girl that answered the phone was very rude and said there was no supervisor I could speak with. FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD!!!!
- Tracie replies to AnnoyedI received the same message yesterday and today. Fraud!!!

- T.CummingsWe're going through chapter 13 and getting calls from creditors is not suppose to happen in any form. This was from a company that thinks they can violate Federal Bankruptcy Law. I returned their call gave them the number they tried to reach us at (home phone). I TOLD them in no uncertain terms that they were in violation of Chapter 13 law and gave them our attorney's number to talk to him. If calls from them continue I'll be reporting them to the Federal Court.

- McKaylaThis is a total SCAM! Received the same call from an Oklahoma Number 918-201-2016. "Christine Moore" from "Howard and Steiner" referencing "a complaint they have received from their client, RISE Financial." This appears to be the same script as those others above. She had me in tears stating I had serious legal claims against me which included check fraud, bank fraud, etc. and the only way for me to avoid consequences was for me to provide my credit card and pay off a debt of $1984.00 that I had owed Wells Fargo, (Which is untrue, I never had a loan through Wells Fargo). She stated the complaint would be filed against me at 5 PM TODAY and I could "Post Bail" if I didn't make a payment or have an attorney present with me. She went into details saying if I couldn't afford an attorney one would be appointed to me. What a freaking joke! I am normally one to catch on to things like this, and normally would never call someone back like this, but I did, and I learned my lesson! Such Scum these people are!
I'm so Thankful for this website. Whoever you are "Christine" You can GO [***] Yourself!!!- Caller: Howard & Steiner
- Yoda1725No such law firm, or debt collector as Howard and Steiner. Bizpedia has no listing for them.
- Shannon Higgerson| 1 replyI received a call from this number and called back and she wanted me to verify my social and said I will not and she said well then there is nothing I can do for you and hung up. I am assuming it is fraud. How do people get away with this?
- Caller: Howard and Stern
- Alfalfa replies to Shannon HiggersonHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - Joe RI got two calls so far today 3/6/15. I just had a laugh and led Christine Moore around and around in circles by giving her no real information. The next time she calls back, I will Skype voice her with my dog barking at her. There is no debt. I know that and as far as contacting the legal authorities in MA, our Sheriff's have no real arresting abilities they basically take care of the county jails and serve papers like divorce and foreclosure. Post Bail? Christine Moore read my Miranda rights to me. Is she a a cop? I just wish I had the nerve of my younger days by asking what she is wearing and telling her I am in the nude but my wife and kids would frown upon that. It would be scummy but fun to mess with her head.

- PatReceived a phone call from these people who left a message saying they were going to file a complaint. I ignored several messages that they left and finally returned their call. These people are bad. They said they were going to file criminal charges against me for a loan that preceded my bankruptcy, which is wrong on so many levels. They wouldn't provide me with the alleged payday loan company, and said the 'evidence package' was sealed. Claimed to file criminal charges but named the wrong county. My question is where do these people get all of my personal information ? I am filing a claim with the FBI as this appears to be interstate fraud. I was on hold with them while I googled their phone number. So thankful for this website.

- Really?Christine Moore...no more calls. No Howard and whoever exist nor do I like the phone ringing with wasted time when so many are waiting for "the" call of a transplant possibility. Been there, done that. Nor do I like watching my little elderly mother trying to rush to the phone and risk falling. I'm sure you have parents, grandparents...and would feel the same way...or maybe not.
You should be ashamed....and arrested.- Caller: Howard and stein
