This unknown number texted me out of the blue at 1:30 am

Random text at midnight. Nothing malicious. Just a bored person looking to talk through text instead of the internet like a normal person.

Same here - after midnight and random text.  Kept texting several times and wanting to be friends.

At 10:26pm got an unidentified text from this number asking, "how are you?" I responded that he had the wrong number. He apologized and said his name was "Kevin". He continued to ask to text chat. He even texted the next morning at 6:46am still wanting to text chat.

Got a how are you. Asked my name. He said he was looking for Cody. His name was Kevin. Stopped texting when I said I wouldn't keep texting him

Next day. Offered
To send pic of himself.

Called me yesterday and has txt me about 8 times since then including this morning at 5:48. Said his name was Kevin. I have not responded back since.

I received a text 2 nights ago thought it was someone I knew and replied to the text. Now this person has texted me multiple times. Sounds like a very lonely individual, what harm is it to just be polite and respond.  Never know who is testing you.

I got a text this evening from 1-928-812-3845 starting out with "how are you" to which I replied, "Pretty good - who is this?"  to which he replied: "Am glad to hear your good and this is kevin and I must have the wrong number I feel so very stupid."  To which I replied: "Ok LOL"  Then he said: "Thanks and sorry again may I at least ask your name." To which I replied: "Darlene"
To which he replied: "Well nice to meet you Darlene you seem like a nice woman." I said: "Thx."
He then said: "Your welcome:) could we text for a bit." At that time I said: Thx but I'd rather not!"

SMS message at 2:54 am today. I was not awake; when I saw it later I did not open mail since I don't recognize number & nothing of interest.

This person txt me at 1 am asking how am I and I said u have the wrong number. They said they feel stupid and asked if I wanted to talk. They said their name was Katie and was taking very provocative to me. If they txt u don't txt back!

Same thing happened to me 5/2/2014.  He used the EXACT same text as in your post.  I decided to google the number when he asked for my name.  I'm paranoid about giving that out to unknown people, with all the scams going around.  Glad I searched first.

S O S..got text,  "how are you doing".   from some unknown jerk wasting my time. Don't reply

The same thing happened to me. I looked up the number and saw that others had also been text by the number so i continued the conversation with him to receive info. He claims that he is Kevin and that he is 24. He asked me for a photo, I then sent him a fake one, he then sent me a photo of someone who looked to be in their 40s. This makes me think that he is some sort of predator who wants pictures of girls.

Just got a text from this person an hour ago saying "how are you doing" haven't responded and do not understand how this person got my number, my cell phone number isn't out in the public. Also I don't know anyone in the Seattle Washington area. Definitely using my iPhone's block feature on this one.

two messages to my wife's phone two weeks apart.  I followed up and found out it was Kevin.  He claims to be alone. I wished him well and adieu.  I looked the number up and found that Kevin has been busy doing this for quite a while. I don't think anything malicious is intended but it is best to cut communications as soon as possible.

The same exact thing has happend to me.. Numerous text from this number. But claims he just got this number a week ago and hasnt text doe this to anyone else yet his name is Kevin and it is the same exact story everyone else has told. Not sure what this person is looking for.
