woman was singing when I answered, then started in about owing money to her company

also heard someone singing when I answered the phone. Caller identified himself as Scott stating he was calling from a computer service. Wanted to discuss my computer with me. I immediately hung up the phone. Probably an attempt to take over my computer. Scam

I've had a string of numbers in the last half hour I don't know, they are meeting the screeching of the FAX machine if anyone is on the other end of the line.  I'm tired of it.  Looked it up, 929 is New York, No results found for (929) 232-2804!
(929) 232-XXXX is not valid. However, 929 is a valid area code. Check that you entered 232 correctly.  I did!

I answer the phone and I get "This is David from the Microsoft technical department.  There is a problem with your computer."  They want me to 'play' with my computer so they can probably get into it and steal information.

The caller could hardly speak English..  Kept saying my computer was sending out error messages... I had to send him money to make it stop.

got a call from this 929=232-2804  on Dec 19, 2014 .. called id shows NY. when answerg machine finished - they hung up .. no msg left...  scam game or fraud.. cant tell.

Someone called from 929-232-2804 saying he was from a computer company and my computer was sending out error messages.  I always love to yank their chain and keep them on the phone for awhile so I made him explain it several times then told him this was all very odd since I didn't have a Windows based computer and that I knew this was a scam and not to call anymore.  I hung up on him.  One minute later, I received another call from this number and it was an obscenity-laced tirade for hanging up on him.  Kind of funny!!

The unfortunate fact is that there are people that fall for these types of calls from overseas operations.

I thought we had all the area codes in NY State blocked.  Quite apparently, not so.
BUT THE 929 AREA CODE IS BLOCKED NOW!
Folks - you must purchase a call blocking phone or device.  
We have the Di**to*e call blocker that can block entire area codes, as well as individual numbers.
Currently, we have over 150 area codes (and counting) blocked.
We have found that blocking entire area codes is the way to go.  When you block an entire area code potentially, you block 6,000,000 to 8,000,000 phone numbers!  Scammers always change their phone numbers but rarely change area codes.
Have friends or family in a blocked area code?  Simply "invite" their phone number.  Problem solved!

These people started calling me Dec 17th they called me every hour! I finally answered and the man didn't speak English. I blocked the number but my phone still rings once then says blocked call. They call my phone every day multiple times a day!! How do I make it stop?! The line is a business line.

Called, said he was from Driver Detective software and wanted to help me with my problem. I told him this was the police station and I would connect him to our IT dept. He hung up!

We should all know by now that the government is not going to do anything about these calls.  Our government does not even know the definition of “illegal”.  If they did we would not have a emigrant issue in this country.

So you are saying that we have a bunch of people leaving the country and this is a problem?  Not only that, but you are insinuating that it is illegal to leave the country?  Wow, wonder why they issue passports and allow overseas flights that Americans get on and go to other countries if it is illegal?

No immigrants involved.   These a tech scammers located in either India or Pakistan.

I got the same reply, that he was from WINDOWS and my computer sent them a warning msg.  Had an accent from the far east, could hear another person in the background.  Definitely a BS call.

Called while I was out, no message.  Thanks to the info here, that number is now blocked.

Just got a call from this number.  Very strong middle east accent, said he was from Microsoft and they had been getting reports that my hardware may have been corrupted two weeks ago.  Said he needed to access my computer, I told him to jump up ... hung up.
