Just got a call like everyone else claiming to be with IRS. The usual threats jail, D.L. revoked, bank accts frozen, etc. Asked him if my accountant could talk to him because he has power of attorney to speak to IRS on our behalf, CLICK end of phone call.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I got a call yesterday and today, recorded message that it is a final notice of criminal lawsuit from IRS.Both times from different locations, cell numbers from Tennesse and Ohio!Called back and it seems to be a spam, or something!

Got a threatening final call as they put it threatening a lawsuit against me and saying they were from the irs.  It came from 935-568-3511 but said to call 929-800-2895. BEWARE OF this scam

Automated voice message said it was final notice of lawsuit from IRS, advising to call this 929/800-2895 number.  Second call in two days.

Just received the same message on my voicemail from a call this morning.  Caller ID showed a number of 934-569-3611.  Computer generated voice left message saying they had been trying to reach us and this was the final notice regarding an IRS criminal investigation--The Internal Revenue Services-- and to call 929-800-2895.  I will not be calling them back.  In my experience if the IRS wants to contact you it's via mail not the phone.  

Yep.  Second call (in 2 days) from the "IRS" claiming they were filling a lawsuit.  Figure if it was real, I would be getting a letter, not a phone call.  Second call from from IRS Criminal Investigation Dept (Ha!).

Recorded message - "Hello. We have been trying to reach you. This is your final notice about an IRS criminal investigation." This is a SCAM attempt. Do not respond. I received exactly the same message hours later from 202-241-8635.

Same as above. Scam. Thanks for the info on this number, as I wasnt 100% sure.

IOWA Number 712-201-6276 Left a Voicemail indicating that they were the Criminal Investigation Department of the IRS and this was their Final Attempt to contact me. So the Internal Revenue Service will be filing a lawsuit against me if I do not call the number left behind which is 929-800-2895.

Recieved call from 935-566-3681 Claiming to be from IRS and that the Internal Revenue Service is in the proces of filing a law suit against me and for further information that I should call 929-800-2895. Never mentionrd my name or any other name that this call was for.

Got a call claiming to be from the IRS and that they were in the process of filing a lawsuit on me.   This is the fourth call I received sometimes a different number or a different person.  On this call never mentioned my name or the name of the person at IRS.  Did call the 1 800 number of the IRS to let them know.  

First call came said to call 202-241-8635, day 2 and now this number 929-800-2895 threatening criminal investigation by IRS. Local police issued the following to our community:

The Internal Revenue Service has issued a warning for consumers to guard against sophisticated and aggressive phone scams targeting taxpayers as this crime continues to rise nationwide.
Potential victims may be told they are entitled to big refunds, or that they owe money that must be paid immediately to the IRS. When unsuccessful the first time, sometimes phone scammers call back trying a new strategy.

The IRS will always send taxpayers a written notification of any tax due via the U.S. mail. The IRS never asks for credit card, debit card or prepaid card information over the telephone. For more information or to report a scam, go to www.irs.gov and type "scam" in the search box.
Other characteristics of this scam include:
 
• Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
• Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security number.
• Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
• Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
• Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
• After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.

If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:

• If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue, if there really is such an issue.
• If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.

The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information. This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.
