They call numerous times per day and will not stop. Once I found out their company info I called and they were looking for someone else. Called them back and they identified themselves as that collection agency listed above....and asked for a Shanty Clark. Seriously??? I don't think this is legit. I believe it is phishing. Nobody here by that name, had this number almost 30 years, so what does that tell you. Be careful.
- DavidCall October 20th, 2014 from a caller name which displayed as, in all capital letters, "LOCAL OFFICE". I picked up the phone and stated "Hello this call is recorded. Speak now or your telephone number will be permanently blocked. You have ten spoken secords to speak or you will be blocked as stated. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Your number is now blocked goodbye." after no one spoke. I blocked the number 1-929-999-1816 using the included function of my Panasonic Cordless Telephone.
The name in all capital letters made clear that it was a scam call. the number 1 in front of the area code made clear that the call came from a computer (callspoof, etc.) and not a genuine telephone number.

- VThis is a more sophisticated version of the so-called Rachel credit scam that the FTC shut down last year. At first they sound like a real bill collector, with some official sounding name, telling you that there is a bill you forgot to pay and it is hurting your credit score. But if you start asking too many questions or demand proof in writing they get nervous and hang up the phone. There are about 50 different phone numbers making these types of calls from all over the U.S., all with the caller id of "Local Office".

Don't bother answering it since it is just a scam. If you do afterwards please check your telephone bills since charges may be applied to your account. If anyone comes on line trying to find out out info about you or anyone that you don't know it is only to keep you on the phone a bit longer. Again, check your phone bill for additional charges that you don't know about. It might be just a few cents or a very small amount but that's all the care about since they are doing the same thing to thousand of people and all those small charges can actually make them very rich… So if you don't know the number on your Caller ID don't answer it. If htey keep calling with out leaving any message that you are familiar with just block the number if your service or your phone allows it. Best solution don't answer the call.- Caller: LOCAL OFFICE

A cease and desist order (C&D) is written to prohibit a person or company from continuing a particular course of action. A cease and desist may be written by a judge or judicial agency, an attorney, or by an INDIVIDUAL.
ask them for their name and address so you can send a CEASE AND DESIST LETTER.
You can use this for all unwanted calls.

- breeJust static on the line when I answered just now. We don't have caller ID, but I can dial *69 to hear a robo announcement of the most recent caller's number. This website helpful in sorting out the scams. Apparently 929 is one of the newer NYC area codes.

- Thanks replies to joGood job tracking them down! Looks like there is already a huge class action against them for their illegal robocalls, but that doesn't mean you can't sue them too! Also be sure to report them to law enforcement. The FBI and FTC might not care much about a small time operation like this, but you might get your state AG's office to take an interest.
