they call every other day and ask for my adult daughter. when i tell them she is not available, they say they cannot give me any info but are calling from a collection agency. we checked her credit report and there is nothing showing on it. I asked if they would leave a number for her to call back or mail her something so she would know what this is about. They said there is nothing they can do and that they will just drop my phone # from their list.

"....they say they cannot give me any info but are calling from a collection agency..."
That's illegal.  A bill collector can only tell the debtor that they are calling about debt.  Telling you that they are a collection agency proves they are not legitimate debt collectors.  Ignore them.  Ask your provider if the calls can be blocked.

If you haven't told your daughter about the calls you need to.  She needs to check her credit report on all 3 agencies and keep checking until this scammer gives up.

This number calls 5 or 6 times a day 7 days a week. The latest they have called was 10 p.m. it is a debt collection agency. I downloaded an app called CM security. This app allows me to block any number I want. This agency is definitely on the block list...

This number has called me numerous times.  They told me they were a collection agency and that they were calling about a debt I owed Kettering Health Network for lab bills.  I don't owe Kettering for lab bills but I am CURRENTLY paying a hospital stay off.  I AM PAYING IT WITH KETTERING.  I am pretty sure these people are a scam.  They lady I spoke with was very nice. Like TOO nice to be a debt collector.  She told me she was so sorry and that she understood my confusion.  Then she wanted me to call back with insurance info.  I never did.  Because I know I don't own the money they say I do.  All of my medical bills are good. I believe she said the company name was CBCS.

Simply put, if she talked to you they are now required by law to do the following:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices:  http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php

If and when you get that letter, send them a certified, return receipt debt validation letter and make them prove that you owe the debt and that they have the right to collect it.  Do not give them any information until they do so.
