I've received 3 harassing fax attempts from this number to my residence at around 3:30am to 4:00am over the last 2 weeks.

This number, and a string of other 940 and 817 numbers, has called our business 800 numbers multiple times.  No fax (though, sounds like a fax tone), no one on the phone, no way to look them up or ask them to stop calling.  Filing a Junk Fax 1088 Form with the FCC, recommend you do so as well, or you can fill out a Do Not Call Complaint with the FTC.

Just checked phone records: seven phone numbers from Denton, TX have been calling our office line, fax line and private line for about two months.
From one to five times per week.

JUST REMEMBER ONE THING - just because your caller id shows these numbers - does not mean the individual or business that have these numbers is actually behind the calls.

Scammers use caller id spoofing - which simply means they can program whatever area code and phone so it shows an unrelated phone number.

Makes them harder to trace..
