I just reserved phone call from this phone, and they are saying, they are doing some refined for some scams that they discoverd...

Just received a call. Dave Austin from Microsoft, lol says something is wrong with our computer and asked us to log into www.infosis.net
says computer did something to bog down the internet. When we told Dave (bother of Steve Austin) he was a scam he said you shut up and hung up.

A female with a VERY heavy accent called me yesterday late afternoon.  After some difficulty understanding her, l understood that she was calling me as a result of an RCMP investigation that had concluded and that I was the victim of a computer scam and wanted to give me my refund.  When I told her I was going to my office to write down her contact information, she dropped the call.  Beware, a total scam!

Cold calls from a call center in Asia offering "duct cleaning services" are a major annoyance up here in Canada.  If you google this, you will see the complaints.

I think that call center is using this phone number (940-792-1561) to 'qualify' a perspective customer, because I always seem to get a 'dead air' call just before I get the telemarketing call for air duct services.   By 'qualify', I mean they want their people only to call phone numbers where someone will answer the phone.... so they 'auto call' your number ...no person is on the other end of the line... the call just hangs up, but their software must register that someone answered that phone.  Shortly after that, you will get the call for duct cleaning services.

Most of these calls are being made 'illegally' because a great number of Canadians have registered their phone numbers on the 'Do Not Call List' and legitimate companies are never supposed to call the numbers on that list.  The Asian Call Centers do not pay any attention to that list...they call everybody anyway....sometimes several times a week, and even sometimes several times in a single day..... all of the calls coming from a variety of fake phone numbers.

Today, I got the 'dead air' call.... from 1-940-792-1561 and the call display screen displayed this "V08281413420004" instead of a caller name.  A Reverse phone lookup showed me that it is a landline in Pilot Point Texas.

A short time later, I got the call from duct cleaning services.   The phone number displayed on the phone was 'not in service' when I checked it.  The caller gave a false name and false number when asked.  When he realized that I was just trying to get the information needed to report the call to the CRTC, he swore at me (F** you) and hung up.

These callers can get very abusive, and if you tell them that they are breaking the law and must remove your number from their call list, they will increase the harassment by having even more of their operators call you, and even giving your number out to other victims as the 'number where you can speak to my manager'.  It is truly cruel and major harrassment.  The CRTC doesn't seem to be able to do anything about it, because the calls are always routed through phony phone numbers.

Grant from the Microsoft scam is at it again.  Said remember a few years ago when Microsoft scammed your computer and you paid $2 hundred and at which point I told him as you recall I didn't pay you that money and it was a scam.  He started talking again at which point I told him I wasn't born yesterday and never to call again.  (At 70 I wasn't born yesterday).  I will notify the O.P.P. antifraud squad tomorrow.  Wished I had thought to tell him I got rid of my computer after the last attempt.  Should also get a whistle and let him have it in the ear and say how do you like me now.

I will be forced to have you charged with harassment and invasion of privacy! STOP CALLING ME!!!

Lotsa luck with that approach.  These people are hardcore scammer/extortionists located in India and outside the reach of any countries law enforcement .  Your best bet is a call blocker.

Man called me saying he was from the anti-fraud section of some entity and that I had been scammed by BC Doctors in the amount of $200 and wondered if I had my money back yet.  When I told him I had not been scammed he hung up on me.

At 7:26 pm, I received a call from this aforementioned number, when I said hello, there was no one on the line, so instead of waiting to see who it was, I hung up.

that number just called me, the caller ID came up as Station 117 and they asks for the name of the gentlemens whose house I am watching. I politely said they were available. The male on the phone the. Said "You're so sexy" I was shocked and didn't think I heard him right so I said "Excuse me". His reply.. "I want to F*** you". I just hung up.

Just received call from this #.  Very heavy accent.  Said they needed to give me a refund on a maintenance contract for my computer as they were going out of business.  Wanted me to go to my computer.  When I told them I couldn't do that at the moment, they hung up.  HA!!!

I love getting calls from scammers. I just got another 6 pack of air horns. What you do is, grab yourselves a 6 pack too, and when you press the #4 (To be removed) on your phone keypad and a person says hello, then give them a nice long blast. It took me a total of 6 calls from them, and no more calls are coming int. I guess it took them deafness to point across to them.  LoL

I don't answer, but know it's a scam.  I did talk to someone some time ago who wanted to give me money back but needed to access my computer......yeah right!

Also, they are calling my  cell phone number which I never give to anyone and rarely use.  How did they get this number????

Answered. No response. Then after 15 seconds or so a recording says " goodbye".
All this at 6 am! ! Not impressed! !!

just got a call from this phone number 1-940-792-1561. Seemed like I was on hold, I heard a click, then a female voice said goodbye.

Air Horn sounds like a good idea! Just got a call from these POS scammers today but i never answer a # i dont recognize. if they want to talk to me, they will leave a message! Muaahahahahahaha their little ploy didnt work on me!!!

Got a call from this number started to tell me that I paid them money a yr ago for some debit I told them no and put me on the do not call list.  I just quit answering the phone now a days unless there in my phone list.  If it's important enough they will leave a message.

Got a call from 940 792-1561 at 8:10 this morning.  They asked for Ms. XXX in an Indian accent, and I asked who was calling, they said they were calling from Visa and wanted to confirm that I made a purchase of $250 on ebay last night at midnight.  I asked them what my credit card number was, they said they are not allowed to give it to me....hmmmm.  I asked why they would call about a purchase on my card when I make purchases all the time and no one calls me, he said they are just trying to verify.  I could see his number with '940' area code on my call display and asked where he is was calling from, in his Indian accent, he said 'Toronto, Canada', although the area code here is '416'....hmmm. I asked him what his number is so I can call him back, he said 'have a good day' and hung up.  Beware!
