I returned this call.  It was formerly a law office number when the Irvine area was included in the 714 area code.  The number connected me to an Internal Revenue Taxpayer Advocate.

No message was left, so I decided to call it back (949) 389-5200 and a recorded message states my call cannot be completed as dialed.  But being that 'Callee' mentions Internal Revenue Taxpayer Advocate; I am actually expecting a call from the IRS Taxpayer Advocate (coincidence).  I assume then that this number is an IRS number being used by the Taxpayer Advocate.  Thanks.

Callee - how did you actually get through on this number - 949-389-5200 to confirm that it was the Taxpayer Advocate phone number?

This number 949 389 5200 called me in the middle of the night and woke me up. telling me that he Armando was from Tax advocate and leave a message that he got the information.... He states that I have to return his call.. So I called back but it says its no longer in service... I think its a scum....

We all should know that IRS does not call you. They will send you all that you need via regular USPS (United States Postal Service). This is a scam and I have informed my liason at my local IRS office in County of San Bernardino, CA. Do not waste your time and return the call. Be aware and inform those around you watch happened and spread the word so that they too are aware.

Got this information from my IRS liaison:
"IRS does call from this telephone number. Usually if one is representing a client in an exam or collection matter.  Any call that comes from a Laguna Niguel employee will show that standard number.  If you try to call back, you will get an message that says the call can’t go through.

IRS does make contact via the phone, although generally our first contact is via mail (there are some exceptions.)  We don’t initiate contact on a taxpayer account via email – ever! However, as you know, we will send information out via email but will never ask for taxpayer names or SSNs or any account information."
