Caller claimed to be a student from UC Irvine and asked for donation for the library. She had the name & address of my son.  I turned her down for I don't know whether she is legit.  The caller ID showed UC Irvine though.

Kept calling every night at the same time until I finally picked up.  Said she is calling on behalf of UC Irvine and ask if I have received the monthly newsletter.  Wasn't sure if it's legit, so I told her to take me off the calling list.

I use to work for UC Irvine and their number starts 949-824-####. This person is a phony.

This number is legit, it is from the UC Irvine Alumni Assoc....they use various numbers usually having a 949-783-51** format. The calls are done by students and they try to get you to renew your Alumni membership or donate...they are relentless and usually don't leave a message...slightly annoying.
