Man, whose English is not very good, claims that he is calling on behalf of the Federal Government and that I applied for a federal grant (which I did not) and that I would need to pay $183.00 for a bank transfer in advance to get the $4000 grant.
When I would not give him my VISA or MC card # (although he said they would not draft  for payment until the transfer.  

He then suggested that I go to a  Kroger to get a Green Spot MC or Visa.  After purchasing the card, I was to call him up to give him the code on the back of the box (UPC type code that is used by the store to activate the card).  

I got to the Kroger and talked to a manager friend that I have come to know over the past couple of years.  Told him that I think that I am being scammed. I told him the above.  He said that it is a pretty big scam.  With that card number, they can drain the contents of the card and the money will just disappear.   You will never see that money again.

He called me again.  I told him pretty much what I wrote above.  Left out the part about scam.  Told him that I would go to Kroger again tomorrow.  I've hung up on him several times but he keeps calling back, so I've changed tactics.  Going to see how many times I can get him to call....

But the way.  Started getting these calls, this one and another for a 10K loan after taking a survey.  Answered not interested for about 98% of the calls including loans.  Got lots of calls for a lot of things that I said NO to.....Cheers

Call me saying I applied for a loan and I didn't and they kept allying me. I ask where asked where they hot the information and they will not even tell me. This number is a Scam. Don't give them any information.
