I got a call FROM (729) 591-6564 with a recorded message claiming it was the IRS and instructing me to PHONE BACK or they'd be filing a lawsuit.  Number given for phoning back was (949) 860-1246.  Since the IRS communicates by mail, it's a scam.  Will report it to local law enforcement to run up the flagpole.  

I, too, received a call this morning at 6:49am (I am on the west coast) from (727)596-6534 with a recorded message claiming it was the IRS and instructing me to phone right away or they'd be filing a lawsuit.  The number I was to call was (949)860-1246.  Since I have a clear conscience and the IRS would send out a letter with any questions they would have, I assume it is a scam and Googled the number to see if anyone else is getting the same kind of call.  I'm not sure who to report this to.

I also did a lookup for the local police department's general intake email for reporting non-emergency incidents, and gave them the information.  When there's a spike of fraudulent calls in the area, they like to issue general warnings describing them to the public.

Thanks to other posters for responding. I got this same call as described by the rest 1/15/15. Coincidentally, I also got a call on 1/6/15 from 818-985-2408 from an "Adam Graham" of the "Dept. of Legal Affairs". When I looked up the number, I found no listing for it so I never called it. Scary!

Wow, what a bunch of scumbags -- also got a call saying that we owed the IRS, claiming to be officer Nash Brown (with a thick Indian accent)

Somebody please arrest these low lifes, I'm sure some people will fall for this.  They say the IRS has filed a lawsuit and you have the option to settle now or go to court against the Federal government

I'm selecting a Call Type of "Unknown", but this call is CRIMINAL FRAUD - why is the worst category here "Prank"?

So yeah, yet ANOTHER fake IRS scammer calling from (729) 594-6594 asking me to call back at 949-860-1246.  This is really ticking me off.  I thought impersonating a federal official was a MAJOR crime - why these guys aren't tracked down to be drawn and quartered is beyond me.  Since civil and criminal penalties don't seem to be working, we must conclude that they and their spawn are unclean vermin fit only for extermination.

They are in India and Pakistan and as such beyond the reach of US law.  Block their calls.

Here's a message I got from 723-593-6594 :

"Hello we have been trying to reach you. This call is officially a final notice from IRS Internal Revenue Service is the reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number 949-860-1246. I repeat 949-860-1246. Thank you."

Really?  What a simple scam.  Thanks to places like this we can record the fraudulent numbers and let others know what's going on.  Maybe they should try getting a real job and working for a living like the rest of us!!!!!!

I received the same call from 1-413-881-5567 claiming to be the IRS.  The return number they left is the same one everyone else is reporting, 949-860-1246.

They told me to call 949-860-1246 and that IRS was trying to contact me and will be filling a lawsuit against me ... I thought they correspond by mail.

Received a voice mail from an automated robot (male voice) on January 16, 2015, claiming it was the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) and that the IRS will move forward on a lawsuit.  No names were given.  I don't have any IRS tax problems and didn't receive any email.  Voice mail said to call 949-860-1246 but it was clearly a scam.

Thank you for posting this information.  I received a message from 949-860-1246 as well stating it was the IRS and this was a final notice, a lawsuit would be filed.  No answer when I called back (weekend) lost sleep trying to figure out why they would be filing a lawsuit?  Wish I had thought to google the number.  Thanks for the input!
