I've answered they hang up

I let it go to voicemail. They did not leave a message. It shows as "SSI" on the caller ID.

Caller ID says SSI.   They claim to be conduction and opinion poll of what's happening in the community.  Called four times within 3 hours.  Told her not to call and to respect the DO NOT CALL LIST.  However, they do what they want and didn't care about the request stating that I didn't want to hear from them.

3 times in one hour SSI .... about ready to drop land line

Called 8 times in one day.

They've gone from once a day to twice a day. They hang up each time.

949-877-1988 - They are a survey and market research group called SSI looking to ask you marketing and political questions. You can go to there web site at www.surveysampling.com and contact them to be removed.

Same experience and I'd this evening

Called two days ago on land line. Caller ID reads:  "SSI 949-8774-1988." No voicemail message.
I have reached the point where I no longer believe "Do Not Call" registration is effective and only keep the land line as a "dumping ground phone number" for all sales and solicitation calls. I put the land line number on credit cards and anyone who really doesn't need to get in touch with me instantly. I no longer answer the land line.....let everything go to voicemail.

The phone screen displayed SSI and this number. I didn't answer and no message was left. SSI may be Survey Sampling International, a long-established polling company (37 years, they claim) that has been known to engage in push polling, a form of public interviewing that is not designed to establish voter attitudes objectively, but rather to foster antipathy to s specific candidate based on conditional questions and possibly dissuade voters from voting for the individual who is being attacked. Most reports about SSI suggest its push polling is usually deployed in favor of conservative/Republican candidates and points of view, and liberals/Democrats are usually the targets of the exercise. I suppose SSI may also have taken money from liberal candidates to undercut the reputation of conservatives, but I don't know that for a fact. I assume they are in it for the money, not the moral high ground (if they can even recognize what that is any ore).

It is not doing true polling.  They are doing "push polling" for the Democrat candidates in Irvine.  Called four times in one evening.

This number called me on my cell today 8/09/2014 at 12:11 PM. I didn't answer and let it go voice mail. They did not leave a message. No caller ID was provided either.

Spokw with my 88 yr old Mother in law tonight, ask for my wife by name and said they were the Irvine Police, but refused to leave a call back number.  This same number has caled every night this week we let it go to voicemail.

They claim you can opt out, but it seems to be mostly a plaebo to molify you so  they can keep harassing you with sensless questions and rude behavoir. In one evening alone they called 8 times --

Phone rang once and the caller id said SSI. 949-877-1988. I picked up the phone and nothing was there.

Let it went to voicemail a couple of times. Never left a message. Answered their call today and they hung up right away.

I got several calls from them and finally took the call. I went off on the guy and now these [***] call me 2 times a night and hang up as soon a I pick up the phone.

how long do you think it will take them to find your cell number?  once you start putting that down for your contact number on everything....

i keep my land line (which i do not answer unless i recognize the person calling) so it will get most (not all!) of these crap calls.

oh, and "survey" entities are not bound by the "do not call."  neither are charities.
