- Andrea| 2 repliesSomeone named John Waldo sent me an email claiming to be a job recruiter. I've been job searching and have my resume posted on a few reputable job sites so I read the email in complete faith. It gave a job description of a position similar to what I had been looking for. However, my caution was raised when he ended the letter without a mention of the agency he was recruiting for. He also never mentioned the job website he found my profile on, the name of the company hiring an applicant, and gave a very unusual explanation of the job description. I didn't click on the link he suggested I visit to finalize my official application. I may be skeptical to a fault in deciphering this message but I've been targeted by a scam on the hunt for employment before although it didn't captivTe me long enough to do damage. Just beware if the same email reaches you and your gut cringes like mine did. Hope this might help someone.

- anonymous replies to AndreaEmployment scams (where there is *NO* job) include but are not limited to:
1. Victims pay $$$ up front for required crap like uniforms, certification, background check, 1/2 airline ticket, etc.
2. You don't quite qualify for the job but are counseled to go back to school (scammer gets paid on college referral).
3. You are offered an interview and find out later it's a no-salary, commission-only, you-pay-expenses, perhaps-MLM sales job with poor leads.
4. Your job as financial agent is to receive checks, cash them at your own bank, and Western Union cash away (checks will bounce).
5. You give your personal info because you believe you are applying for a real job which can lead to ID theft.
6. You are offered crap like surveys, etc., that's totally unrelated to your job hunt, that the caller will earn $$$ on.
7. You are hired as a trainee only because the scammers are collecting a Fed subsidy. Subsidy received/ends, you gone!
REMEMBER -- THERE IS *NO* JOB, I.E., NO SALARIED POSITION. - Dillon34 replies to AndreaThey are legitimate it is for Advantage sales and marketing. John is the recruiter for them.
