Said they were my credit card company (never specified what company) and that my rates were scheduled to go up or have recently gone up (again no specifics given). The recorded voice said to press 9 to lower my credit card interest rates or stop the increase. I hung up at this time.

Received a call today on my cell phone (which is on the do-not-call list).  The call started with a pre-recorded message about credit card rates and implied I received a letter.  When I pressed 9 to talk to a person, I asked for the business name so I could file a do-not-call complaint with the FCC and FTC.  They identified themselves as Card Member Services out of Atlanta, GA.  At first, they promised not to give another call. Then they asked for my first and last names.  When I declined to give them, they said then I'd be receiving more calls.  I said they were not allowed to refuse to remove my number because I wouldn't give a first and last name, and they said goodbye.

    Complaint filed here: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Keep getting calls and hang ups same number.  How do you stop these scams seems not answering doesn't stop them?
Automatic message about my "credit card" rates going up, and I should have received a letter.
Did not mention what credit card, bank, any specifics just to press 9 to speak with a respresentative to reduce my credit card rates?????

I immediately HUNG UP....this is annoying since this number has repeatedly called my number for the past several months, leaving no message.

Unfortunately they don't adhear to do not call and constantly change their number. All you can do is fill out the FCC do not call complaint form. It takes about ten minutes for each complaint for to be filled out. Funny thing is if they're calling all of us, they have to be calling the FCC people on their personal phones too. EVEN THE CALL TYPE BELOW DOESN'T SPECIFY THIS TYPE OF CALL!

I got a call from this number too but I just ignored it. Something is fishy; I never heard of any phone number with a prefix of 000.

*PLEASE be very careful about "pressing 9". *That can connect you to an overseas or long distance number!

*I, too, have never heard of a "000" prefix. *You can check out location of a prefix by going to the following website: http://www.thedirectory.org/pref/  *I will check out the "000" prefix to satisfy my curiosity.

On Saturday, 05/05/12 *YES - I received a call from an ETHAN JACKSON, CARD MEMBER SVCS., ATLANTA, GA. *Went through the "routine".*When I stated that I had no credit debt ETHAN JACKSON stated "you're a d**khead" and hung up. *Filing a complaint with Do Not Call Agency is of little use. *I have been filing complaints to the DNC for years - to no avail!  *ALSO - on the DNC website, the DNC gives instructions as to how a "company or business" can PAY to SUBSCRIBE to the DNC and receive a list of REGISTERED  "Do Not Call" numbers so the said "company or business" will know who NOT to call. *DUH-H-H-H!! *Is the DNC Agency working on the solution to the problem of these calls - OR- is the DNC Agency part of the the problem? *Isn't this an interesting conundrum? *Maybe we should start filing complaints to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the Do Not Call Agency? ****EVERYONE reading this message BEWARE of pressing 9. *It could connect you to an overseas or long distance number.****  *All these companies have to do is look in the white pages of any community anywhere to get names and phone numbers to use for these annoying nuisance calls. *These companies do not have to check any Do Not Call. *I dunno - maybe if enough of us keep calling the FTC - something will be done to stop these calls.
