I was looking for rental properties on Craigs List in WI, and emailed an inquiry on one of the apartments.  Received an email back from a person with this number and asking for a call back. She is claiming to have a condo for rent in the WI area.  She tells us her husband is at the Olympics working as a technician, and she was in a bad car accident so is staying with her mother in Vancouver, WA until she is fully recovered, therefore can not show us the place.  She told us to look in the windows, and tell her if we are interested.  Then we are supposed to send her our application with money, and she will have her husband send the keys. She said that they just evicted her husband's cousin because he was not keeping the property up.  Rent is cheap, all utilities and appliances included, and the place very large, and very beautiful.  In fact the rent is so cheap, it's not in line with what is customarily charged for the area.  It sounds like a possible scam.  If this lady is in Washington State, why does she have a Riverside, CA telephone number?  The place would be great, but I am leary of proceeding.  As they say, "If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is."

This number is a scam artist... I totally agree with the above! Same situation (looking for apartment on Craigslist) in Clifton, NJ. This is the reply I got via email the next day:

Same situation for a home in Cherry Hill, NJ. House is for sale and I contacted the listing agent to report the scam, should they care to follow up. That's my second "too good to be true" Craigslist posting today.

I had the same situation as the above name JR in Old Bridge  N.J I went to go see the house that was up for rent when I went there was an old lady that let me in and claims that she does not speak or understand  English.When the woman emailed me back she said I need to fill out  the application so we did and later that evening she accepted us and told me that her husband is out of town and that her and her daughter are staying with her mom and sister because she got hit by a car and she's in a wheelchair and there taking care of us so I need u to send 1000 so we can get the house ready for you then she was texting and emailing me back and fourth then when we were just thought everything was okay she emails me I'm sorry you need to send at least 500 to get last minute things done and you will have the house cleaned out and the keys will be on the way so now she got about 1700 hundred dollars with the money grams of 1500 plus the fee to send it and said I will take it off your rent when you move in now I have a whole family very upset this woman needs to be stopped before she gets to do it to someone else we are annoyed and aggravated

What happened

Exactly the same verbiage with a different name and hubby's name and daughter's name.  Broken English.  total Scam - this was for a home in North Carolina:  and the email address to reply to is:  GodIsGood@gmail.com - different number but same words and story....be careful out there!  They stole the name of a realtor in the area - I think the home was for sale at home point, where they stole the listing pics and address and then tried to rent it.  Same thing happened to a friend of mine where her home was listed for rent as a scam and said they were missionaries in Africa - and so send the money to them in Africa!  

At least you think they could be more creative!  Ridiculous!  I'm sure the next move was to send them a downpayment!  Or a rental application with all your bank info!

Same thing for me in Toms River, Nj. Same email, different names. This one is not actually for sale somewhere else like some of the scams I've seen.

What got me....is that she used the actual owners name. She must access the tax records. That is prob why she changes the name. I thought it sounded too good, but said to my hubby "it really is the owner." Good think I googled the number first.

Same thing in Arden NC, same story. Ugh no one has integrity anymore. Disgusting.
