Calling "about the photocopier in the office", typical scam call. No company name given, caller ID was number-only, hung up when I pointed out that their call was illegal on several levels.

This is a complete scam DO NOT give them any copy or fax machine information. The caller says they are from a distubution center and that they are just updating there files but what they are really doing is trying to get that model number of your copy or fax machine to send you printer ink and a bill for it. They will not let you send it back its a real nasty scam.Thankfully another company that this happened to gave our business a heads up about this scam. So everytime anyone calls like this I'm sure to let them know they are a complete scam and never give them any information.

Same thing happened in my office. They asked me to give them the make and model number for our copy machine. I put her on hold and she hung up before I gave her any information. I am glad I checked here after the call ended! I will be warning our neighboring offices!!

Today I received the same phone call mentioned above.. this was our conversation.... "Hi this is Britney (refered to B from here on out) , I need to get the model number on the front of your photo copier... (me) The photo copier? (B) Yes the copy machine in your office, it is located right on the front of your machine, do you see it? (me) Who is this again?  (B) This is the distribution center, we are updating our files on your fax machine and I need to know the make and model number on your machine so we can update our information. (me) The distribution center?  Which one? She immediately hung up.  LOL!   I work for a company that deals with distribution companies - but  A) I have yet to EVER know ANY company that needs to know the AMAKE & MODEL of the machine we are using.... and B) I didn't recognize her name and for sure not the number she was calling from - as all the companies we deal with are local.....  I smell SCAM - BIG TIME SCAM.... how about you????  :)   The number the call came  in  from was 951-547-3964  I called it back and only get a BUSY signal.....  Spread the word!!!!

Same deal as all the other who received this call.  They called two times within 30 minutes.  I got the name Maddy and she said she was calling from Direct Distribution.  Each time I kept pressing for more information she just hung up on me.  Someone please tell me how to report these people!  I hate them!!!!

Called today (4/26/10).... I didn't recognize them so I didn't answer. Guess they're still scamming and violating the ''do not call'' laws

I just got a call very similar...after giving the model number, the lady said I would be getting a call from the main office to verify our updated file...I got the call which came from California and informed the lady I had not ordered anything....then the first lady called me back and asked me why I didn't order then hung up on me...lol...my caller id said panoptic?   and this number

multiple calls from these scammers, they call with a story about them being our supplier for printing supplies and that the costs are going to go up if you don't reorder with them now - if you use the words "yes" or "OK" in ANY context they will send you bills for materials

i got a call today from panoptic at 951-547-3964 wanting to know the model number of the copier in my office.  i asked her why she needed to know that and she hung up on me.  I am on the do not call registry so this is a violation.

These people call ALL the time. And once you ask them where they are calling from they hang up. So as soon as they ask for the model number I hang up on them. And of course the number they call from is always busy.

I checked the FTC website.  They are aware of this scam.  They say that you do not have to pay for anything they send you.  You also don't have to return anything.  If they send you something without your ordering it by law it is a gift and you don't have to pay for it.

They're still at it. They hang up at the first question.

By the way, business phone numbers cannot register on the Do Not Call list.

I just rec'd a call from this #.  The woman said her name was Sherice?  Cherice?  I'm not sure how you would spell it.  Same as the others, she asked for the make and model # of our copier.  I thought that was fishy so I asked who she was calling with and she hung up.

I was called today by this number and since I purchased my fax/copier through my procurement team I knew that no one should have called about my copier/fax.

I am not sure who these people are but I would like to know how to report them as well.
