    Scams
They left me a message and I called back.  Says his name is Ryan Blacksheer with an Indian accent.  They are scam.  I told him he's a piece of [***] and take his scams somewhere else.  They tried to scare me by telling me they are the attorney generals office. I said for them to get the local sheriffs here and that I am waiting for them.  I told him to take his scam back to his country and scam his [***] people and that we American's are not stupid to fall for their BS.

This number also called me saying that I was being accused of fraud.  I put the company that was in question on 3-way with this man and he became very angered and said that he was sending the police. My company had informed me of this scam.  I then called my local police and they confirmed as well. I will be making as statement against them.  Not to mention that there is a 3 hour time difference, so they are calling me at 6am California time.  What attorney is open at 6am. THIS IS A SCAM, CALL THE POLICE ON THEM! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY ACCOUNT INFO.  THEY WILL SCARE YOU WITH THE INFO THEY HAVE ON YOU I.E. YOUR SSN BUT PLEASE DO NOT REVEAL ANY INFO TO THEM.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

Thank you so much for this info.  I had called them back a few times to shame them.  Apparently they call from numerous numbers.  I have called the FTC and I am calling the credit bureaus and my bank now.  Thanks again

These people called me 39 times yesterday 1-16-2013 and so far 5 times this morning 1-17-2013.
They are not from the Attorney Generals Office in California. I have already called the FTC, FBI and the Attorney Generals office. This is a SCAM......You can call your phone provider and have them block the number they are calling from. I keep getting the same guy, Chris Martin with a very strong Indian accent. I haven't blocked him because I am harassing him like they are me and it is funny to hear him get angry as I laugh at him. The number they are calling from is 951-878-0689 and the AG Office is a 916 area code.

I actually enjoy these messages as they afford me quite a good laugh first thing in the mornings. They've called before, asking for someone who doesn't even work here, leaving threatening messages in that ridiculous accent that we can barely even understand. It's quite a riot! I was actually thrilled to find one in my VM inbox today. It has been too long since we've had a good chuckle at their expense! :)
