A woman (Rita) from this number called me the other evening saying she was from Bradstreet and Assoc. Threatened me with legal action if I didn't pay them 1,200 + dollars from US Bank debt, I explained to her that an employer had bounced a check to me and I tried to work with the bank but they wanted their fees. She told me that it didn't matter and they would take a one time amount of 800.00 and it would go away,I told her I couldn't do it at this time. I asked her to send me some documentation about it and she told me there was nothing to send. This was a one time offer and she didn't have anything she could send me as they were not a debt collection company they just bought the paper work. She then told me that the interest on the fees will continue to add up and I could pay them (Bradstreet) 12.91 a month til I could make a full payment. I'm thinking if a debt is already charged off it has to be a set amount and not one that continues to gain interest? Just the fact that she wouldn't send me any written documents about them buying me debt should tell me something. I think they have to send some debt collecting disclosure don't they? The number she called me from is in the name of Ajay Mendes, a private number. I think that they try and scare people with the threat of legal action, loosing everything and jail for not paying a debt and try and shake you down for money.
