I just googled the same number - 954-492-1645 because it appeared on my caller id and no message was left on my answering machine.  I thought it might be from a friend or relative in Florida.  I first unsuccessfully tried a reverse look up.  What it it they say?

Got a call that came up as "Private Name Private Number" on caller ID.  Caller asked if he could send a pledge packet for the MS Society.  I told him he could send the info. and my husband and I would look it over.  He confirmed our mailing address - I did NOT give it to him - and we hung up.  Ten minutes later, "Rose" called from this Florida number saying that I had pledged to give money to the Foundation and she wanted to confirm the mailing address!  I told her I did not pledge any money, but that I had agreed to look over the info.  She sounded  a little surprised, and I told her goodbye and hung up.

I receive numerous call day and night from this number which I don't answer and never a message left.  They even call Sundays. This has been on going for over a year. On 6/25/09 a call came in at 9am and my called ID said private caller. As I was expecting a business partner to call and his line always says Private, I answered the call and a woman said she was calling on behalf of Multiple Sclerosis Society and wanted a pledge between $30.00 and $200.00. I asked if she would take less and the answer was NO. She asked to send a pledge package, I agreed and said I'd look it over.  She spoke my address which I neither confirmed or denied, and she said I would receive another call in 10 mins to confirm my pledge.  I asked what pledge and she hung up and no other call came in then. But since then I have had 8 more calls listing their number within a 3 day period. So far no pledge package has arrived, which I would share with the AG's office.  This woman was hinting that I make the pledge over the phone with a credit card at first. Beware, I believe this is a Scam for credit card numbers.

These people aren't doing the MS society any favors.  Our household made a decision, NO donations will be made to any group who calls to solicit.  We can make decisions to donate on our own.  This number shows up incessantly on our caller ID, when I answer they won't talk to me, want my husband only.  They are rude and persistent.  We need a way to block charities, the DO NOT CALL registry should allow us to avoid any intrusions into life, including unwanted charities.

I got a call from a private number and answered thinking it to be my husband (who's work number comes up that way).. It was the MS Society looking for a donation. I said yes figuring I'd think about it later and she said I'd be getting a call from someone to verify my mailing address due to it being tax deductable.  Since then, this number has called NON STOP and I won't answer it. If they want me, they can leave a message for me.. very annoying.

    Kindness works =)
For your future knowledge hanging up on these type of phone calls only makes them call you more =). Just politely ask to be put on the do not call list before you hang up on them.  It doesn't bother them to skip your number so that you are filtered back into the call list.  All you do is kill them with kindness.  If you are rude to them they will just keep giving you calls.  I used to work for a call center so I know.  Get a rude customer and throw them right back in the system just because they cursed you out or hung up unexpected.  Remember its their job so you can not go off on them, they are trying to eat and survive just like you.

There is an ad in the Sun-Sentinel from the MSF hiring for charity fundraisers. Easy Work, Good Salary etc., etc., and I went online to research the phone number to see if ad was legit. This is the MS Foundation or a group that does charity fundraising/telemarketing from them. Glad I researched it and see they make annoying calls....not interested in applying for that job! Just wanted to add to this feed so you know what it is.

Keep getting calls from that number.  Call screener enables me to NOT answer the phone.

I have established a personal policy of not donating to charities who pull this stunt.  So far Diabetes,
Cancer, Heart Association and others no longer get donations.

It's too bad, but I don't want to be harassed.  My number is on the national DO NOT CALL register, too.

It is a real pity that these people have nothing better to do ,to represent themselves as an organization to help sick individuals that need the most needed heath care only to scam caring people. My advice to all who read this, beware of calls such as this and pass it on to everyone you know,Do Not even answer the phone if you do`nt recognize the caller.

954-492-1645   -   This number is being used for telemarketing and fund raising by the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation National Headquarters in Southeast Florida.  The fact that this organization is using unscrupulous telemarketing methods, and has no regard for the fact that the recipients of their calls are on the “Do-Not-Call” list, has been well documented by the frustrated call recipients on blogs throughout the internet;  a simple Google search of this number will reveal the number of frustrated households who have been harassed by this organization over-and-over again.  The fact that this organization would use this type of telemarketing scam leads me to believe that it is just another “not-for-profit-front” organization that lives in a tax-free environment solely for the benefit of its executives….. I would not be at all surprised if this was just another front that collects money on the pretext of being a charity, but after the “administrative expenses” necessary to provide comfortable offices, great benefits and high salaries to their “staff”, only passes a very small fraction of donations collected through to actual researchers or programs to assist people with this disease.   Do NOT give these people any of your hard-earned money.  It also would appear that the people this organization has hired to make these harassing calls have found a way to dupe their employer….. It seems that this organization must be paying these “telemarketers” some sort of bonus for making a quota of “completed calls”, because they keep calling and calling the same number once they find a number where someone will actually pick up the phone, or a voice mail will answer, in order to inflate their “successful contact” list.  Many times after the initial contact, they don’t even bother staying on the phone or saying anything when the phone is answered…they just hang up, presumably because the call-tracking computer has already logged a “successful contact”.

Here is one of the adds this organization posted on the internet in order to find people to conduct this harassment:
