got a call from this number

this phone number showed up on my phone bill like i had actually call it! the time shows 2:12am. the weird thing is that nightly...actually early every morning my phone half rings at about 2:10am. needless to say it's very friggin' annoying!!!

This number appeared on my phone bill for last month and it looked as if I dialed the number. I don't know anyone in Fort Collins, Colorado and would have no reason to call there!

This number also appeared on my phone bill this month.  The call was placed on Tues. Oct 2 at 20:31  Like the others I know no one in Fort Collins, Colorado!!

I also was billed by Verizon for 2 calls to this number.  I did not call this number and I don't know anyone in CO.  Verizon checked it and said it was an "open LCR".  They couldn't explain to me what that was, but I had a hard time convincing them that I didn't call it, just the same.  It took a while, but they finally agreed to give me a credit.  I told them they should investigate this as being some sort of scam.

I also had a call listed on my phone bill to this number, does anyone know what this is???

I have found out that this is actually the number for corless phones that have a "Caller IQ" option on their phone.  If you select the Caller IQ option to set it up it dials this number and puts you in touch with the service to get news, weather etc....

I got a bill for a 1 minute call to this number (970-267-3116) that I never dialed.  the party that actually benefits from this call was my long distance telephone company. I was billed $0.07 for the phone call, $0.33 for government taxes and fees and $1.99 for CARRIER ADMIN FEE.

I began to get upset when I saw this too on my bill, then it dawned on me.  I have a Panasonic cordless phone.  I wasn't sure what it was.  I was using the menu on the phone.  Nothing seemed to happened after hearing what sounded how a phone line modem connects the the 'net.  I forgot about it.  Until I saw the # on my phone bill, googled it and saw Open LCR.  That was the name of the service.  I'm glad it didn't work.  They charge a hefty monthly fee that wasn't included in the instructions... hope this helps someone sleep better!

I had this number (970-267-3116) on my phone bill too. I knew I had not placed any long distance calls on a Sunday morning, but then when I read the post from "Hol," I knew what it was.  Hol is right, if you have a Panasonic cordless phone and you went through the phone's menu to check ringtones, etc. then your cordless phone dialed the Fort Collins, CO phone number (or maybe someone else in the house did).

I just googled Open LCR after reading the above comments.  It is like a switch to open "Low Cost Routing."  Is this some kind of command embedded into my panasonic phone?  If so, shouldn't Panasonic disclose that in their literature?  

My phone bills show this number being dialed at weird times of the day when no one is around.  This number is not dialing me. My phone is dialing it!

I received a call from this # also.  we did not call this #.  I am very upset.  I also have calls from a n.y. #.  hopefully we will have this taken off.

I complained to Panasonic about the 970-267-3116 number.  The following is their reply.  Hope this helps.

Caller IQ is a service provided by OpenLCR company. Once activated, you will have access with Ringer Melody Download, Information Download, Phone
Directory Download, and Low Cost Routing Service.

The Caller IQ service can only be activated after registering with openLCR
at www.openLCR.com.

To turn off Caller IQ, please follow the instructions below.

Programming must be carried out on a handset.
1. Press MENU.
2. Scroll to Caller IQ.
3. Select Turn CIQ off?
4. Press SAVE, then OFF.

I have just openend my bill to the same number dialed on a day that I wasn't even home. Panasonic should INDEED disclose this information to consumers; I have no intention of paying for any calls I haven't dialed myself. And to further add insult to injury, neither of my cordless phones even HAS the CIQ function activated. At least this posting by so many people can serve as a confirmation for folks to the phone company that this particular number is a nuisance and we shouldn't be charged for it. I didn't save the caller ID because the next day after the call I just assumed it was a sales call so I erased it. Has anyone ever answered a call coming in from this number?

See my last post. Additionally Caller IQ is NOT activated on any of my phones. Is the only solution that I have to block long distance from my phone line?

I called Panasonic. There is no way to lock out the Caller IQ feature on the phone. Also on the Caller IQ website, www.openlcr.com, there is no phone number for them and the number in my Panasonic manual for Caller IQ is an invalid toll free number.
Looks like I just have to warn everyone who might use my phone not to press that section of the menu or it will accidentally cause the phone to dial the long distance number to Fort Collins, CO. Also by pressing Menu, 7, 5, in my phone causes the same long distance number to be dialed. At least that's my best guess. I'm assuming that we're accidentally dialing Caller IQ but maybe sometimes it does it on it's own. Still investigating. At least by posting to this message board someone might not have to spend several hours trying to figure out what is going on with their phone like I did today.

On following up on Panasonic's response, I tried to turn off Caller IQ using the instructions provided.  I picked up the headset, scolled to CIQ, but it doesn't give me an option to turn off.  What do I do now?  This is the first time I noticed these 2 calls on my online bill and it was while speaking to a customer service at the phone company.

Glad I got some info here about that number and Panasonic, just saw on my phone bill 2 calls 2:32/.33 am. I think I was playing around with the menu on my phone and must of activated it to see what it was and then deactivated callerIQ.
