- GrannyI just turned them into the Colorado Attorney General. You can look your state's attorney general office just by looking up their web site. There is a form you can fill out. Then when these idiots call offering to lower your interest, just keep repeating, "I've turned you over to the Attorney General's office."
I am hopeful these annoying phone calls will stop.- Caller: Lower Interest

- Dave| 7 repliesi work for a fraud dept of a bank and we are seeing this number associated with a lower you apr scam. They will say they can lower your rate for a fee of roughly $1200.00. Once they get your card number they will not only charge your card that fee but will than try to make charges for computer software. Company name is LIRC, lower interest rate consultants. Stay away! we have taken many claims with this going on!

- bear| 2 repliesCaller ID says we get 2-3 calls a day from this number but there's never a message. I picked up once and there was nobody there. I called back and it was like dialing a fax machine. I've never actually spoken with a person at this number.
Oh by the way to the people who say "I have no debt" - - if you think you've resolved a dispute and then closed an account, or just closed an account, depending on the credit card company they might report that you settled for an amount that was less than owed, and/or sell the "debt" to a collection agency. I paid two 0% cards in full in 2005, requested in writing that both accounts be closed - one mistakenly then sent a bill for interest even though the 0% period was not up, but I called and complained and they said it was being taken care of; the other I never heard from again. Two totally unrelated cards. Lived in the same place for four more years, never got a call or a letter from either company - why would I, right? Moved in with my GF in another state. One year after THAT, I got phone calls claiming to be collectors who had bought the two "accounts." I asked them to send me verification, and explained that no, I'd paid both off. Neither sent anything. It has since been more than another year - it's now more than six years since I paid the accounts in full and closed them, so even if there's a way they can legally keep an account open, unilaterally hit it with a charge and never send you a statement or in any way contact you, and let interest accrue on that charge, they can't collect on it. But I don't think they can do that.
But I don't know if the original credit card issuers made errors and then "sold" phantom accounts to the collection companies, or if the collection companies pull random Lexis-Nexis reports and call you claiming you still had a balance on accounts that in fact you paid off years ago.- Call type: Fax
