- Brent| 3 repliesI got a call today (around noon) from someone with an Indian / Pakistani accent telling me that he worked with Windows and that he could help with with a problem that my computer was having. All I had to do was sit down in front of my computer, turn it on and he would help me.
I told him that I wasn't interested and he told me that all he needed was for me to go on my computer and he would show me that what he was saying was true. I politely declined and hung up.
This is not the first time that I have received this type of call and I would very much like to find a way to stop it.- Caller: Windows

- Jon B.Just received a call from this number, from a female with accent as described in posts above/below -- she said it was about my computer running the Windows operating system. I asked if this is an organization I currently do business with, she said no. I then asked to be placed on their do not call list, and her response was "why". Next, I asked to speak with her supervisor, then she hung up.

- EAA| 1 replyI just got a call right now, 4:48pm PST. Ive never seen this number before in my life. I said "hello" twice but got no reply. Just as I moved the phone away from my ear to check my volume I heard something but I could not make out voice, gender, if the sound was from a person or automated recording, or anything that was said. Then the phone hung up. I tried calling back twice and let the phone go for 35 seconds each time but it never rang. I texted a friend of mine the number and asked her to try calling, she said for her it rang once but then nuthing but silence. No more ringing, no voicemail. There was no company name on my screen, just the phone number.

- jennySam issue 10 minutes ago. 4:46 EST. Caller with heavy Indian/Pakistani accent said I was shaving a problem with my computer. It was infected and this was very urgent. I asked where they got my number and they said my computer was reported through Microsoft Support. I asked again where he got my number and if he could direct me to the Windows Support website for further information. He started giving me a www.winsolutions site and I cut him off. He kept insisting that they had information a virus was coming from computer and this was urgent. I said don't call her again and hung up. Thing is I have registered on the do not call site repeatedly. That does not seem to be working. Caller ID said Top Googlepages with the number 1-971-217-9518

- DelilahI didn't answer this time, but I have had calls from this outfit before saying there is a virus in the Microsoft software. They deny working for Microsoft, but say they are tech support for the software. These people are really slick, so don't be fooled. Back when I got the first call, I had just purchased a new computer. The first time they called me, the number came back to a legit Canadian company. I contacted them and told them maybe one of their employees are using company phones to make scam calls.
I am wondering if anyone else has just purchased a new computer in the past few months. When they called me, they knew I had Windows 7 and it had just come out. On the other hand, I have received several calls from different numbers with the same scam several times over the past year. That's about how long I've had my present computer.- Caller: ID says: Beaverton OR
- Jay ArrGot the same call. It is a huge scam. They want you to turn on your computer and log on to a web site where they supposedly will fix your "very seriously infected windows computer". I listened to his instructions, but did nothing during the call. The scam is to get you to download mal ware.
