Almost every night around 7 PM EST, we get 1 or 2 hang-up phone calls.  Mostly we get unknown number on the caller ID but this time it came up as Harris Poll 971-228-5658.

i get atleast 2-3 calls everyday from this #.

unwanted calls. hang up when machine answered. every night at just before 9p EST

same here,  had call from this on @ 1825;  no answer to softly spoken hello.  i notice if it's an auto number they can't hear it, though a live person would be able to.

got this call several times.  last one was sat. 1:38- 2/28/09.  says Burke Inc.

Called several times within the last week.  I'm never home when they call and they never leave a message.

Every night, same BURKE INC.  calls and hangs up.  I called it back and it is a survey company.  They say to leave a message at the tone to tell them to remove your number from their list.  Just leave your number and it will be removed in 3 days.  I did so I will see if it works.

Answered and a man said he was taking a survey and asked if I was the head of the household and I said yes. I asked if he was marketing anything and he said no. I agreed to take the survey but each time he asked me a question I answered and asked him a question (quid pro quo). He asked a few questions about what county I was in, who did the majority of the grocery shopping and how many people were in my household. I asked where he was (he said Idaho) who he worked for (Burke Corp.) and who sponsored the survey (Bernett Research). But very quickly into the survey, I think when I answered that I was the only one in this household, he said I was not qualified for the survey and said goodbye. I tried to take as long as possible when answering the questions, the call lasted just under 4 minutes.

Bernett Research has a web site where they brag that their two call centers can initiate more than 100,000 calls per day.  Their web site has a page where you can enter your number to be put on their “internal” do not call list.  Since they are a survey company they do not have to pay attention to the national do not call list. I did not enter my number in their do not call list because I think it will be more fun for me (and annoying to them) if I call and ask to be put on their do not call list.

still happening, I am in NC and just got a call from this number too.  called the number back there of course is a recording...it is for a survey company that will continue to call you unless you remove your number from the list.  leave a message that you are on a do not call list and give your number to be removed....annoying I know!

Monday: Called Matt Hayes (extension 2703) at Bernett Research Services and left message to please remove me from their call list. He called back and left message saying that he would do so. His message was very polite.

Burke Inc calls me from this number at least 3 times a day.  When I answer to tell them to stop calling, no one is there!  It's infuriating!

I am in NC also rec'd call from this number few minutes ago around 6:48 pm.
Seem to get calls from numbers like this all the time very annoying. Do they not have other things to do? I picked it up and immediately hung up on them.

Every night at around 7:00 these people call my house. And every time I answer they hang up. Very annoying.

Just got a call at 6:45 p.m. from this company. Someone who talked so quickly that all the words ran together, and with a bad southern drawl accent, ended by asking for the "owner of the house." Being as I rent the place, I said "no thank you," and hung up.

Whomever it is calls later in the evening and they call every day.  We pay for privacy director but when a name or unknown is associated with the phone number, it does not stop the call from going through.  We just don't answer but it is very annoying.
