- ReceptionistVery polite gentlemen said he was calling on behalf of Microsoft and asked to speak with the person in charge of our computer systems. I informed him I could not without a current point of contact. He was very understanding and polite and wished me a good weekend.

- Phone AnswererSaid he was calling on behalf of IBM and wanted name of IT director to update their contact list. I asked what contact list. He said their contact list. I said I didn't know why they'd have a contact list with us on it; did we do any business with them. He said we had to have at one point had a transaction but couldn't identify what that transaction was. I declined to give him any info; said he could put president as contact name. He politely said good bye.
- Caller: Said IBM
- Mr. Stuckington| 6 repliesInteresting that everybody is getting a different company for the "calling on behalf of" line...
Woman on the line claimed she was calling on behalf of Lenovo and wanted to update our information, as well she asked for my email address. Did not give any info but she knew the business owners name/contact info.

Phone: (972) 300-0058 - Rude Much replies to moron alertWhile they are seperate companies, Lenovo did buy IBM's PC line from them back in like 2005. So you can see how one would draw the relationship. Do you have to work that hard to be ignorant and rude at the same time?
- OM529I received a call from this number. The person on the other end asked for our IT director by name, and when I asked who she was she said she was Paige Mullan. No explanation. Which forced me to then ask what company she was with and why she was calling. She said she was with McAffee.
Really annoying when people do this. When I say, "May I ask who's calling?" it is customary to give your name and what you're calling about. By just giving me your name and nothing else, that accomplishes nothing and will force me to question you further, which in turn continues to waste more of my time, and your time.
It is even more annoying when people simply give their name, then after I ask what this call is regarding they sigh heavily and give an extremely vague answer, forcing me to question further. This is not fun for me, I do not screen calls because I find it enjoyable, I do it because it's my job. It is their job to sell a product. Therefore, they shouldn't act "put upon" or burdened when asked simple questions such as the purpose for their call.- Caller: McAffee
- Call type: Telemarketer
- IT360Received a bizarre message from this number today. Heavy breathing, typing, and some vague background noises. I thought it was an obscene caller.
- Call type: Prank
- Butch replies to Zac| 1 replyLenovo is NOT a division of IBM. IBM sold a portion of their PC Division to Lenovo several years ago. Lenovo is a company in China.
- more of sameReceived a "missed call" notification from this number, with no caller name or message. I don't return such calls because I constantly get them, asking for the "IT director" (which I am not).
I appreciate the 800notes service! - HiesenburgI'm in IT, Im assuming it was another salesman ( damn you RSA conference!!!)
- Caller: Dont know
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Keep on track replies to ButchWho gives a crap what company bought out what company, or what company is somehow related to another company, these calls are telemarketers making annoying and UNWANTED calls. Even if we did purchase something 20 years ago from whoever the caller is representing, we will call back if we need something else. We don't need "sales calls" or "information updates" calling us 10 times a day.
- It's General MarketingBasically, it's a company that represents all sorts of different tech companies, and they sell phone generated leads to people who sell software.
It's annoying, but at the end of the day taking a call from these guys actually will cut down on your call volume since you'll get pulled out of the general database as a "generated lead".
I used to work for a company like this, and now I get calls from them. Vicious cycle. - Bob replies to moron alertThe insults are uncalled for. Were you born rude or do you practice at it?
- nononoour IT director said all cold calls, regardless of nature should be sent directly to VM, they must leave info for a call back. The department is simply to busy The woman calling didn't take to that kindly and said "there's no way" and hung up.
