Same scam, different phone number - DO NOT FALL FOR THIS scam magazine subscription ruse.  See also phone #s 904-306-5793, 218-422-7318, 803-430-9553, 330-400-2173, 415-935-9137 - block them all and expect new ones to crop up.

I am a Discover magazine subscriber ... since Issue #1.  I have been contacted by these scam companies on average 6x yearly.  I NEVER give them information.  I report each phone number to Discover and add it to my call block.  Discover DOES NOT CALL SUBSCRIBERS - the scam companies will say "Yes, we know that, they give it to a 3rd party to do."  Don't engage with them.

This most recent call after the caller said she was calling about my Discover subscription, I said "Oh thank you!  You have just earned a place of honor on my Call Block, as Discover does NOT call subscribers!"  She protested with the "Yes, they give to a 3rd party to do it" line and I hung up.

In the past, I have received this email response from Discover Magazine:  "We apologize for the phone call that you received. We believe the call was made by a subscription agency as we never make outbound calls. We take these complaints very seriously and we do not condone any company making calls under false pretenses. As we identify these companies, who are not authorized to sell our magazines, we can take further action against them. Thank you for informing us of your difficulties with these calls.  We have forwarded the information you've provided to our home office who compiles the information."

Same thing with TV guide.  I'm going to record the conversation as I go along with the scam.  Put it up on Youtube.  Been calling me for years.    They are basically trying to get CC#s for a bogus subscription renewal.   Working out of Miami Florida I think.

Received call today, but no one answered on the other end.   Checked that this phone number is on the list.

Received a phone call from this company and when I would not answer after the first two hellos, the young lady said "are you through yet, jerk".  Nice way to have your employees talk to people. Unfortunately being on the National Do Not Call list doesn't really mean you won't get these calls.

Girl only identified herself as Sandy and left no info on who she was with other than she's in charge of my renewal subscription. Once I heard the magazine relation, I knew it wasn't legit. She claimed I had chosen a two year renewal-which of course I knew nothing of, then tried to throw a three-year pitch at me. I told her I'd renew at my convenience then she told me I'd be paying $11 more. I deal with the magazine itself, not these offbeat subscription services.

Can't believe it, they just called again.  Call block caught it.  Do NOT fall for these scum.

DNC list doesn't mean squat to these folks. Many are just using robo-calling software.  Good luck trying to pursue.  You can report the number to DNC, and add them to your Call Block list, but that's about it.  Since they call about Discover Magazine, I report them directly  to Discover's customer service.  This has been going on for years, unfortunately.

When they ask for your husband, just say "hold on, I'll go get him" or something similar and leave the caller waiting indefinitely. I've found that's the quickest way to keep telemarketers from calling back. Since they usually have a daily quota of calls or sales leads, they hate for their time to be wasted waiting for someone who may never actually pick up the phone.

Yes, these people are slime.  Yes, they deserve all the bad things you would like to do to them.  Yes, being on the do not call list is worthless except to stop honest companies from bothering you.  If you have a call blocker, block this number.  You can't harass them enough to make a difference.  At best you can say just a minute, put down the phone and waste their time.  Does that make a difference?  Probably not.  Just hang up and never answer a call from someone you don't know again.  Real people and businesses will leave a message.

To fight these scum you have to take action yourself.....the do not call list is a joke (the FCC and congress have proven to be lapdogs for big business telemarketers and is now moving to give them and big media priority fast lane access to the internet.....the FCC chairman is (surprise) a former telecom lobbyist. If you do not have a call blocking feature (or run out of space), do yourself a favor and get a call blocker, and just plug it in to your phone line.....it will be the best money you ever spent.....lots of them out there, check Google and Fleabay.   I got a device called Pro Call Blocker last year and it only costs around $50.  It stores up to 1500 or so numbers and uses caller ID.   When a spam call comes in, all you have to do is hit the blacklist button and presto, no more calls from this number (you can also manually enter numbers to block, entire area codes or all out of area numbers).  It logs all calls in or out. If you get this one, be sure to get the latest version (last I looked it was 2.2).  There is also another similar device called T-lock blocker which looks similar and came out late last year.  Phone line is pretty quiet now as there are no repeat calls (although a lot of these spammers have multiple numbers so you have to block each one as they come in). Get a device and post back a review........screw the spammers!!  

If they are asking to talk to your husband and won't talk to you, they are calling on behalf of Playboy.  My hubby subscribed for a year.  He doesn't want it anymore, but when they call he is never awake because he is a day sleeper.  They flat out REFUSE to take my say so.  They call here at least 5x a week.  Thank heaven's for call blocking.  They go straight to voicemail.  I wish I knew the name of the company because I would definitely lodge a formal complaint!

They call every day with caller id showing Texas call. A female asks for my husband saying she is from Hot Rod Magazine. She won't talk to me, so I lowered my voice and insisted I was him. She said, "you're not Sam!" And hung up. Our number is on the do not call registry, but it still gets through. What an annoyance!

This person called my gram a little bit ago. Asked if she wanted a subscription to Alaska Magazine. When my gram politely declined and asked the woman on the other end to not call again, the woman told her to "Go F yourself" and hung up!!! It is really sick that people would talk to a 77 year old woman that way..
