Called...Left no message

Called my cell phone at 4:55pm. I did not answer and they did not leave a message.

Recd phone call from this number today. My phone rang 4 times so it got through my subscription to NoMoRobo.
I did not answer and they left no message on my answering machine.
My caller ID shows this number as "V71820505300046" (don't understand the meaning ; strange).

That V string is placed there by their robo V-Dialer. It means you were called on Jul 18th a 20:50.53 (8:50 pm and 53 secs) and were call 00046 in the current sequence.  Not much use except maybe to them but now you know how to interpret that ID string.

I am on the Do-Not-Call Registry and have been for many years..

The caller Steven tried to sell me a home security "update" even though I live in an Apartment which has security.

I stated I was on the Do-Not-Call Registry and asked him to take my number off his calling list now and forever and I was going to report this violation.  But I think he hung up before he heard my message to him.

I tried calling the (972) 460-4155 back and received the message that the number is not in service.  Just how the hell do the telemarketers get away with this?????????

Just another illegal call from another S.O.B.  

I answered and a man said "Hello, this is Steve. How are you today?"  I replied "I'm fine but I don't believe I know you."  "Steve" immediately hung up.

I got a phone call from this # . Saying they wanted my addresses so they could  hook up security cameras & do soming  to my phone cable & my internet. I ya  right i  live in apartment so no thanks  then he   keeped    on  asking  me  my   address  so  i   hung   up.

Telemarketers get away with this, essentially, because most of us aren't willing to pay attention to the issues and vote out any politicians who don't support our wishes. We -- and I mean the American people, in general tend to respond to knee-jerk appeals and issues and sound bites and however someone ends up getting characterized.

As long as people in the telemarketing industry can make money off these robocalls, and as long as politicians accept contributions from such "job creators," no meaningful regulations will ever be passed. The "Do Not Call" list was a good start, but there's no law against spoofing -- inserting false Caller ID info into the stream -- so these folks can get away with it.

There are a few things you can do:
1 - Get a system that lets you ban these calls, either by routing them to voicemail or by answering with the "number disconnected" tone or by blocking them entirely. Ooma (a VOIP system) does this, as does NoMoRobo -- which may not be available in your area -- and probably most VOIP systems. There are also devices you can buy that will block calls.

2 - Just don't pick up if you don't recognize the caller.

3 - Never ever respond to any telemarketer pitch. If they make one sale a day, even if they have to call 10,000 people a day, they still turn an easy profit.

4 - Send a letter to each of your representatives, and make it clear that their position in this issue will affect your vote.

5 - Don't press any numbers (when they say "press 4 to be taken off our list) as this merely confirms that your number is valid.

6 - Keep posting those numbers here.

I don't answer any of these calls. If it's a legitimate caller, they'll leave a message. And when they hang up -- they always hang up -- I put them on my blacklist. If they call back, they get the "this number is disconnected" tone.

We picked up because the caller ID identified this as coming from Texas, where our daughter is currently staying. The caller said "Hi! This is Steve!" (Steve seems to be the only person who works there) so I hung up and added them to the blacklist.

It's either these folks or the "revolutionary pain creme" folks who call once a day, each time with a different spoofed number. Time for yet another letter to my congressman who, sadly, is in the pocket of Big Business and won't do anything.

Thank you to the people who did pick up and who can and do report that this is a home security scam.  It is very helpful, to those of us who refuse to pick up at all, in that it allows us keep track of what various types of pitches these awful callers make.

Yes they have been calling me night and day and no let up I got me a block phone and now they will not get  through the piece of craps, must be nasty illegals.

Just called. Didn't recognize number so didn't pick up.

I've had several calls from 972-460-4155 - they want my credit card info for a "home security" installation.......sure, let me get ya that card number!  Sick of spam calls!!!!  

Thanks to all who had shared their "Steve" stories.  DPU,DNLVM (didn't pick up, did not leave voice mail).  Caller ID only had the (spoofed?) number above.  "Steve," if you read this, would please consider changing your job to something legit?

Caller told me not to hang up as he was not trying to sell me anything, Then he said "AARP " and I hung up.
It was a recorded message call.

Rang landline.  They left no msg.

It's another B.S. call from some idiot with nothing better to do.

Idiot called and I answered.  

Him: How are you doing today?

Me (Sternly):  I'm fine.

Him: I'm sorry to hear that.  I hope that doesn't last

Then he hangs up.

This is supposedly an alarm company.  They don't let you talk and the number is not in service.  I'm reporting them to the authorities as I am on the do not call list and I feel they are a fraud
