Caller said he was from Microsoft and they detected that my computer was being hacked, said he was calling from Delaware, however New Jersey area code.

I got the same call. Is this legit?

I received the same call and they first called from a DC number 202-747-9713, however, the call back number was the 973 number.  They told me they were receiving red and yellow signals from my computer and gave me a long serial number and asked me to confirm.  That way they could probably get my real  serial number and etc.  What a scam!   I called them and told them that i was aware of their fraudulant behavior and i would report them to the FCC, better business bureau and that i would alert everyone i know who owns a computer.

Just had a call from someone purportedly from Microsoft and claiming my computer is raising red flag messaged. However, the phone I was using doesn't have call display, so when I asked him where he was calling from he said Ottawa (Canada, area code 613). He first gave me this number - 973-200-6677. Then I asked him again and he said 204-272-8888, area code 204 is Manitoba, Canada - that number also has a list of similar calls. At this point I told him he was full of the smelly brown stuff and hung up. He was calling a number in the 613 area code!!

I figure these scammers have a number in the States and if they're trying Canadians they have the Manitoba number too.

If you lead them on a bit they want you to hit windows key + R - this comes up as "run" and if you type in what they want that's how your computer gets infected.

this is  ONE  of the  biggest  scams  going  on !!!!    (  and  has  been  for  years )

how  could  ANYONE  not  know  of  it ?

Just got this call from a guy in Ottawa.he claims that my windows pc sends him a message when i log on. Funny. I dont use windows.

Same scammers...they are at it again. Beware they ask you to give them permission to access your pc for halfan hour yeah right !!! In your dreams!!

Je viens de recevoir un appel d'un technicien de Windows m'indiquant qu'il avait reçu une alerte indiquant que mon ordinateur était infecté et que j'avais seulement 2 heures pour ne pas perdre mes données. Je devais le laisser entrer dans mon ordi pour m'indiquer comment me protéger car ma licence Windows était expirée. Je devais prendre une protection pour 1 an - 3 ans ou à vie pour des montants variant de 100 $ à 300 $.

Le nom de l'appelant Lynus Smith m'indique qu'il appelle d'Ottawa. Comment vérifier qu'il dit vrai?
Je trouve que c'est une anarque.

Someone call my # to try to tell me about a problem With window, If anyone need to contact me it is possible  to do so by E-Mail, As you have my E-Mail Address as I register my copy you should be able to get it from my registration. I do NOT like to be call at 20:00hrs. I have kids that goes to bed earlier and I do not want to wake them up.

I got the same call from these idiots!  I told him I was not stupid enough to give him my info!!

I received a similar call at my Toronto home ph.# R8Y8today from Nick Jones, 973 6677.

I got call from this number. Be aware, thoses ppl are suppose to represend microsoft, they wanna know the serial number of your computers and others informations about your computers. They english song like indian and they suppose to call from ottawa (canada). They give employee (fake) id numbers too to look legit.

This ppl talk fast to get yourself confuse. After that they want the autorisation to get the control of your computers at distance by serials numbers. The name of the guy was jack.

I get angry and said i wanted to talk with the french services of microsoft (they said they will talk slowly to understand) thats how a discover this scam.

Got same call as others.  Said they were calling from Windows Help Centre, gave me a name and ID #. Said that they had detected several infected files on my computer.  Because I was having problems with my computer most recently, like a fool I believed them and started to have them take control of my computer.  They showed me thousands of files that were apparently infected and said that they could fix the problem but it would cost me $$$$. When I started getting suspicious I asked what centre they were calling from. They gave me the 973-200-6677 number and said they were calling from Ottawa! I immediately told them to get off my computer......then I proceeded to shut my computer down.  Don't fall for this scam like I did!!!!

My mother keeps getting a call and this is the call back number they gave her...

Received a call last evening (October 31, 2012) from Microsoft  windows service and asked if I was using Windows.  They said I was getting infected downloads. I asked for a call back number so that I could verify who they were.  This is the information she gave me and requested that I call back immediately so that she could correct my problem immediately.  The information:  her name is Rachel Scott and her customer care no. 1266, and the toll-free call back number is 1-973-200-6677.

You must know that I did not call back for fear that the call back number would be the bearer of some kind of SCAM..

My better half got the call last night (Wednesday) - she gave me the phone - I asked for coordinates so I could call back and Ryan gave me this number. Surprised Ryan had an east asian accent.

I received this phone call a couple of minutes ago.  How do they get your name, phone number and the type of computer you have?  My son was smart enough to google the call back number before we gave out any information.She asked if I was using Windows and said I was getting infected downloads. I asked for a call back number, (so I could verify who they were).  The caller named Trie, who sounded like she was from India, gave me the number 1 973-200-6677.

How do these people ever look themselves in the mirror?!!?

I just got at call at 11:45 Nov 21, 2012.  He said he was from Microsoft HO and they were getting mssgs that my computer had virus's that were killing my motherboard, bla bla bla.  Says his name was Jack Worsen  ID = 1221 and gave the phone # 1-204-272-8888 and 1-973-200-6677.  Gave me a fax# 1-302-468-5243 and an address of 158 MacArthur Ave, Ottawa ON  KiL 8C9.

I hung up after asking him this info and he called again and I did not pick up the phone.  I wish I would have had my whistle with me - his ears would have been ringing.
