978-570-2411 registered on my Caller I.D. as "TSS Inc."
Answered phone -- no response from call originator. Very annoying -- Whoever is running this boiler room operation is paying no attention to the Federal "no call" list..
White Pages We page states this is an "unpublished" land-line number in the Wilmington MA area. Anyone willing to pay the crooks at the phone co. $1 more than "TSS" is paying them to keep it private can get the info.
WhoRan.us identifies the number's owner as "TELEPORT COMMUNICATIONS BOSTON" -- That is the carrier that "TSS Inc." uses to rout its robo-calls.
Wikipedia [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teleport_Communications_Group ] has some interesting info. It states that Teleport Comm is a local fiber-optic telecommunications hub based in Staten Island, N.Y. Merrill Lynch financed it as a local competitor to Manhattan Bell Tel prior to Federal telco dereg. Long distance carriers such as AT&T, MCI and Sprint used it as a local router of their long-distance calls to NYC, in order to avoid the more-expensive local Bell company.
This was such a money-spinner that "The financial services and long distance companies quickly asked Teleport Communications to replicate its services in Boston. Merrill Lynch formed a partnership with Fidelity Investments for Teleport Communications-Boston."
Wikipedia continues: "The success of TCG ... demonstrated that competition was possible in the local telephone market. This contributed to the passage of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which ... requir[ed] the incumbent telephone companies, the largest being legacies of AT&T, to interconnect with the new entrants. The company has since merged with AT&T....
"In 1998, TCG was acquired by AT&T for $12 billion. At that time the publicly traded TCG (NASDAQ, TCGI) served 65 markets and generated $800 million in revenue. Its largest investors were cable TV companies TCI, Comcast and Cox Communications."
So what we have here is some of the biggest corporations in the USA getting richer, a nickel at a time, by engaging in the dirty business of renting out their fiber-optic phone lines to boiler room operations that annoy us with robo-calls. -- Isn't capitalism great?
One more thing -- Coretera.com has the following contact info [ http://start.cortera.com/company/research/k3p ... cations-boston/ ] for TELEPORT COMMUNICATIONS in Boston:
TELEPORT COMMUNICATIONS BOSTON
* Address: 99 BEDFORD ST, BOSTON, MA 02111-2217
* Telephone: (617) 476-4760

Although we are on a do not call list, they violate state law by calling and soliciting. I agree they're phishing and trying to get information to get into one of your accounts. Just hang up on the thugs. They're basically no good trying to take advantage of people. Screw them and their accents.- Caller: TSS INC

- Snowed In In WII just received a call from this number on my cell phone. She claimed to be from a company called 'MoneyTronics" (Or at least that is what her broken English sounded like) and she claimed that GE selected 10 homeowners and I was one to receive a GE Home Security System, a $1200 value for free. I told her I rent and suddenly she was disinterested and hung up on me.
I'd watch out for this one!!- Caller: MoneyTronics (?)
