Caller, India accent, asked about my electric bill.  I spoke German, caller hung up.  Likely a solar scam.

SICK of unwanted calls from telemarketing/sales; I am on a DO NOT CALL list these miscreants skirt around.  All my caller I.D. picks up is : 978-795-4888> Acton, MA

Caller ID read Acton, 978-795-4888. Did not recognize so did not answer. No message left on ans. machine.

Call I didn't recognize this number so did not pick up.  They left no message.

I keep getting all these calls and it is about time the communications departments of telephone companies put a stop to all these unwanted calls.  As soon as I picked up the phone, they hung up.

I live in Acton, MA and that's not an Acton phone number. Scamerroo.

They called again.  Same old thing.  I just ignored it.

I got a call from this number less than one minute after I paid my electric bill to Eversource over the phone. The connection sounded prehistoric and I couldn't understand a word. When I asked her to speak slowly she hung up.

Caller ID said call was from Action. No message left.

Z... U need to be aware that the DNC list is ONLY for legitimate businesses. Scam artists and unrepeatable companies either don't show a caller I'd or they spoof a legitimate #. Other than blocking the # and reporting to the FCC there is nothing you can do except not to answer an unknown #. Even if you report the #, it's only a matter of time before another # is used for them to continue their quest. Also you can check sites like these to give you more info.
I don't understand why people continue blaming the inadequacies of the DNC list. For all intents & purposes, it does what it was set up to do. Unfortunately there are way too many scumbags out there looking to take advantage of unsuspecting callers. It's a #'s game. That is why the calls will continue and never stop!!

Electric spam/scam.

To the person who said, "I live in Acton and that's not an Acton number".  It is an Acton number, but that doesn't mean that the caller is physically located in Acton.  Gone are the days when all Acton phones were 263 and 264 numbers.  All of the following 978 prefixes are officially part of the Acton MA rate center which includes Boxborough:  201 206 263 264 266 268 274 393 394 429 489 621 631 635 795 844 849 881 893 908 929 936.  How could we POSSIBLY need 220,000 phone numbers for two Towns of 23,000 & 5,000 people?

Because each carrier is assigned a different prefix, and there are LOTS of carriers.

Don't forget 897 too!
