I'm getting similar calls from 512-614-8242.  I filed a report with the sheriff's dept, and when the sheriff's deputy called that number, he was given 979-871-8770 as a number where he could get more information about the claim.  I called the 979... and got a man who called himself Huge Foster and said it was a Cash America in Austin, Texas.  I didn't pursue any further info from "Huge".  At the 512...they also gave the deputy a phone number in Miami which was supposedly the corporate headquarters, but when the deputy checked the # it was listed as something to do with pets.  I don't think they are calling from Austin, because they give the temperature in degrees Celsius, the pronounce "v" like "w", and they didn't know which college is in Austin.  I hope law enforcement can track them down.  These guys are very creepy!

These guys have called me from two different numbers, it sounds like the same man with a thick middle eastern accent, who states an american name such as Officer Andrew the last time it was an Irish name, that was the first clue. They told me I was going to be in "big trouble and lose my job" If if didn't pay back the payday loans I took out on line. It is a scam. I do have one thing of interest though, I think it may be in relation to some sort of security breach with my American Express Acct. It is the only card with my old name and these guys are using my old name, There was also an attempt to use my American Express card online about a month ago but it was caught by the company and denied payment! It think these [***] have something to do with that as well. REport this to the federal trade commission as well. I also reported them to The Carlson Law firm in TExas who has it under investigation.

Someone from this number and another number has been calling off and on for a week.  A man with a thick middle eastern accent left a message that he was "Officer Steven Smith" from a law firm, and that I have a complaint lodged against my name and SS#.  He instructed me to call him back ASAP or I would be in great trouble.  After three consecutive calls that I refused to answer, I then received three consecutive calls from "911" (identified on caller ID).  How did they do that?????

They called me today and said I had a law suit against my name and SS# for $762 in unpaid loan to US CaSH nET.   They would help me settle out of court and avoid paying up to $4000 in penalties.  Ronnie Cooper said he was with Carleson Law Firm out of Dallas TX.  Said I had three counts against me for violating federal bank systen, collatreral check fraud and theft by deception.  I have no idea what he is talking about!  I told him to fax me proof that he was not deceiving me.  I got nothing.

I received a call from 979 871 8770.  The guy said there was a laaw suit against me, but he did not say what the lawsuit was about.  He said he was Eric Holder, and when we said that Holder is the Attorney General of the US, he acted like we did not know what we are talking about.  We were tough with him, and eventually we hung up.

Same thing happened to my boss who is a MD, the caller said he was Steve Smith (severe Indian accent) calling from the Carlson Law Firm in Austin Texas.  I just checked out their website and no attorney there has that name.  I asked the caller what this was regarding and he said it was regarding misuse of the the doc's name and SSN.  Told caller I would take a message. And the above number is the return number he gave me, 979-871-8770.

I got a call from these people and it was a woman who left a message.  I've gotten so many scam calls in the last few weeks that I don't answer the call unless I know the number, or it's local.  I called back the number and asked for information regarding what type of lawsuit they had against me.  (I had read this board before returning the call.) The person I talked to refused to send me anything regarding the lawsuit.  The guy told me that I could pay the money up front over the phone. It's definately a scam.  I told the guy this, and he said if I didn't pay the money I could lose my job, which is really funny because I'm unemployed right now.  I've reported the call, but I also alerted the local news team to this scam so that others don't fall for it.  These scammers are getting smarter.

I have been getting calls from this number multiple times a day for a few weeks.  I never answered it because I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.  (If they really want me - they leave a message.  Never got a message from them).  Today my son answered my phone while I was driving because we were waiting for a call.  It was a woman with a heavy Indian accent.  She said there is a lawsuit against my name and ss#.  She said something about a lawyer I think from Texas, but it was so hard to understand her.  I hung up.  She called back and left a voicemail.  The name she called me by is not my full name but my nickname.  I'm assuming they are getting phone numbers from some sort of advertising list.
My son got nervous for me when he heard the message and there was mention of attorney.  I believe this is a scam because if there was a legitimate lawsuit I believe there would be correspondence in the mail and my proper name would be used.

I myself just received this very disturbing phone call. They DEMANDED I give them 800.00 for a loan that I got in December of 2010 that I don't remember. I asked to see some type of papers in regards to this and they told me that I had one hour to do so. They also told me that my ss number was held and my home was being watched and that I would never get a good job with my ss number being held. Still I insisted to get some type of proof that I had owed any type of money and he said that I was fighting this and that I would owe more than 5000. He had an accent that I could not understand and said his name was  Kaden Smith with phone number of 979 871 8700. I even tried calling and goes to a voice mail that is full. I did call the BBB and left a message in regards to this scam. Boy what a way to start your day...
Don't GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just recieved a call from this number as well. I was told they were calling from a law office and they were filing a lawsuite against me for non payment of a loan from cash.net. I have never taken out a loan on the net for anything. The buy sounded like he was indian. When I asked for the law office name he refuesed to give it to me. He had an old address of mine from years ago. I finally asked what kinda scam is this give me the name of your law ferm I was told that if I thought it was a scam i should come down there and suck his D***! then he hung up. I tried several times to call this number back and it went right to voice mail.. someone should do something about this... I have an attorney friend of mine checking into it for me...

I have been receiving calls from this number on my cell phone for a couple of months now but since I don't recognize the number I don't answer.   If they need to speak to me they would leave a message.  The other day I did receive a voicemail  from a man using the name Eric Holder from the Carlson Law Firm. His accent was so strong I could barely understand the message.  He indicated that they had received a lawsuit filed against me and my social security number.  He said something I could not make out but at the end of the sentence I heard "to make sure that I will receive your call...or you will be in big trouble.  Have a nice day."   I called the number three times and each time reached his voicemail... If these were legitimate calls and a lawsuit against me and everyone else he calls existed, wouldn't you think the return phone number would be a Law Firm with a receptionist?  I have never been sued but would think that if this was legitimate any and all correspondence would be done certified through the US Postal Service with a signature required.   It will be interesting to see if the calls continue, however I intend to ignore this creep who is trying to scam and steal as much as he can before getting caught!

I received a phone call from this number 979 871 8770 today and they told me that I had made an internet pay day loan and the man called him self Daniel Luther He told me that the conversation was being  recorded by the federal government. He also told me this was done in Feb 2009. He was angry that I was not going to give him my debit card number so they could just take it out of my bank. He first stated that I owed $900.00 but if I gave $450.00 that the company would settle for that. He also said he was calling from the Attorney's office.

I also got a call from this number (the same thick foreign accent as described by others), saying he was from a law office and that a complaint had been filed against me and my social security number.  He advised me to call back as soon as possible or else I would be in "big trouble."

Someone with a thick East Indian accent called and threatened a law suit supposedly for not repaying some payday loan. I have never taken such a loan and consider this harrassment. Please, report it to the authorities. I don't know the caller's company, but it shows up at freeport, TX on my screen.
