says they are nc troopers association, I always just say we donate locally to the benefits held in our area so we know all money goes towards troopers and their families.

Just a few seconds ago and no one answered back.

About a minute ago, but did not answer as the phone # was unrecognizable and the
caller ID showed  "unavailable".

I keep getting calls from 9802655082 -  says they are NC  troopers assoc. I have told them to take my # off their
list - they continue to call several times a week - I am on the do not call list  -  Today I lost it and blowed my whistle in
his  ear - The crazy man continued to talk -

I received a hang-up call from this number on Friday 4/24/2015 at 7:12 p.m. When I picked up phone, caller hung up on me.

There was no name of company on caller I.D., just the phone number, which I believe is illegal (spoofing).

Did not answer.  Left no message.

Get same calls, if they are having to pay these people to make calls to collect donations for the troopers and their families, why don't they just give the troopers the money they are paying the callers?

They call CONSTANTLY! They just called AGAIN now!

This is a scam.  I asked the NC troopers association how much the troopers actually get - only 30% - so for 70% free money these jerks try and sell you on compassion and caring for troopers.  If you want to donate, just go on the website associated with the police department or state troopers website - or if you bump into one, ask them.  This scam is just like so many others  - save the hungry children, yet the execs fly around in corporate jets and make $400,000 a year.  I hope Karma catches up to all the scam artists.

This may actually be a bot with pre-loaded responses, based on what you say. A bot, loaded with pre-recorded responses will keep talking no matter what you do (whistle, etc.). And don't leave a message.

If you want to "out" them, ask them anything with the word "Africa" in it. This confuses their system and then you'll get a response asking that you repeat the question, or something else like they don't understand what you're asking and try to return to their sales pitch. After you mention Africa again, they may tell you to go to a website for more information and the call is usually over.

If you ever think you are talking to this sort of bot (which is also used by other companies), just put the word "Africa" in your response. It's hilarious how they try to vamp to give the right response back to you.

Another charity donations (paid?) canvasser called my home today, Saturday at 3:41 PM.  This time they claimed to be collecting donations for the NC Trooper's Assn.  It has been  my experience that (paid?) charitable donations canvassers will just ignore any requests to be dropped from their call list.  This time they represented NC Trooper's, but if the pattern holds true for this number as it has for the other charity canvassing numbers, next time it may be the Fire Dept Assn, or Breast Cancer, etc...  For those of you using the Sentry call blocker or similar device... you might also consider blocking these numbers as well.  In the past Charity Canvassers were calling from these numbers as well... 980 968-1918, 980 201-1139, 919 694-1139, 704 949-2404, 704 816-7827, 704 631-2354, 704 369-2471.  Of course, these numbers may now be used for other legitimate purposes... so I suggest you verify these numbers on 800notes.com.  And then decide whether or not you wish to block each of these as well.

It is Sunday...I just got another call from these people.  I informed him that I lost my job due to a serious accident and am struggling myself.  "Well m'am...you can make a smaller donation, what is comfortable for you?"  My response was "how 'bout y'all sending me some money?  I'm sure these fallen troopers had life insurance for their families.....No One is giving me money due to my injury, so how can I give to them?"  He continued with, but m'am.....then hung up on me. I don't mean to be unsympathetic, but seriously....If they have a job so dangerous, I am SURE they have enough life insurance to leave their families in the event....not to mention, if there are minor children involved, they will get a Social Security check for support until they are of age. So, you want all if us to send them even more money so they can have a well off life????? Sorry!

Just tell them you are a trooper and they will add you to their do not call list. They do not want to talk to any law enforcement.
