Called - didn't leave a message.  This was their first call

Called 7/1/09 at 5:46 PM. I picked up, but as soon as I heard the background noises of a call center I hung up.

Got a call at about 9:00 a.m. 7/2.  No message left.  Registered with donotcall.gov for years.

I got a call from this number this morning. Caller ID was Unknown. But  I Googled the number since I'm also on the national Do-not-call list and found out this is NC State Fraternal Order of Police which is a non-profit organization. I also found out any political group or non-profit organization does not need to follow the national do-not-call list. So they can bug you as much as they want.

Caller said they were fraternal order of police. I told him we were on the do not call list. Caller said it didn't apply to them. Some of these "fraternal order of police" are scam operations in other states

Since all I get these days (since Jauary)  are calls from scamsters, I'd bet this is a scam as well.

"...if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 ."

So yea, the Do Not Call Registry does not ban them from calling you, you need only answer the phone, politely explain that you do not wish to receive any more calls on behalf of the FOP and read them the paragraph above.  I also suggest recording the conversation (don't be sneaky, tell them the conversation is recorded...and ask the caller to confirm the time and date before launching into legal smackdown).

they called and asked for my mother. i said she wasnt home. and they suddenly hug up before i even got to ask who it was! RUDE if you ask me

called and said they were with NC State Fraternal Order of Police and asked for donation.  I told they I would not commit to anything without asking my neighbor who is with the NC Hwy Police

Got two calls yesterday, told the first not to call again (actually, I said "I don't take calls when the caller isn't on line when I answer."  They then called again and hung up when I answered.  Today they called again (different person calling) and I 'harshed' him, saying "never call this line again."  Then I registered at donotcall.gov.  These organizations get police permission to market for them, and the police only get a cut.  If I get another call from them, I'll report the violation to donotcall.gov.

The number here is 336-856-XXXX and go a call at 10:56 am today. We screen calls and are the DoNotCall list, for what that is worth. No message, just hang up. Too bad that they mes it up for legitimate charities................Oh Well......

This is a telemarketing firm out of Charlotte, NC..(new area code)

Answered the phone. After a long pause, caller announced, "Fund raising call. North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police." I hung up.

This number called me this morning (Saturday) at 9:00! I did not answer but looked up the number to see who was calling. It is a shame that we can't block numbers on our phone if they aren't in our calling area!

Caller left threatening message with maniacal laughter. Reported to police.

Got call and asked for the head of the house.  Said will call again.

We do not want any calls like this.  As such, we get so many unwanted calls.
