This number called and nobody answered when I said hello.

Received a call around 5:45 pm with a caller stating he was from Microsoft. He stated that I had malicious software on my machine and attempted to get me to open a run prompt to remote into my pc. When asked how many people he actually managed to scam this way, he said 7/10 people fell for it.

Most obviously a totally bogus number.

Individual claimed to be from Microsoft, claiming my Windows system had malicious software. When I laughed as he asked me to open a browser and allow him remote access, he used several colorful metaphors, then started to verbally abuse me. He continues to call several days later, once leaving an obscene message.

I got a call from these folks today.  Had a ton of fun with them.  They called a few months back from another number, apparently didn't register in their logs that I had fun with them last time, too.  Keeping fingers crossed that they call again so I can have some more free entertainment.  I work in IT, so it was enjoyable to hear this guy's answers to my "technical" questions.  Hopefully I kept this guy away from scamming at least one other person while I kept him tied up on the phone.  Kinda wishing I let him put me through to the "engineer" to see if I could have fun with that guy, too.  

Called 981-111-1111 and a guy answered. He was almost certainly American. He answered with "hello" and I told him I missed a call from 981-111-1111. He asked my name and asked who I was calling for. I told him my name was Tom and I didn't know who I was calling for, I was just returning a call I had missed and was using the number that showed up on my caller ID. He sounded puzzled and I said "well, maybe someone just made a mistake". He agreed and I hung up.

Answered the number-Microsoft and wanted to "fix" my computer.Told them nothing was wrong with it but they insisted-I said I was a computer tech so quit the scam and forget my number. They did hang up-gee was it something I said?

I thought it was a joke....I laughed and the foreign man's
voice say's 'don't laugh, you have been hacked. So I laughed again and told him I hacked him first.

After reading the above messages, I am so glad I didn't answer the phone.

had the same thing happen then they called back from another weird not full number and said the line got disconnected....

3 times today. Foreign accent. Said something about my computer and I said take me off your list ,or I would have you charged with harassment he went on to say you can't do that, I laughed, hung up, and did a call trace. Called back while my husband was home, kept asking to talk to his me, didn't want to talk to my husband, did another call trace that's all it takes to to make it harassment.

Foreign sounding man call and said he needed to speak to the man of the house about our computer. I told him we don't use Windows except to open for fresh air. Pause... He said the man called him last week for help. I told him if he would provide a phone number I'd give it to the man. Pause... He said he had to speak with the man, not to a woman. Women aren't smart enough to use computers. Ha!

Called, but did not leave a message

Caller ID on my TV screen showed 981-111-1111 phone number and the other line of the caller ID showed the letter "V" followed by about ten numbers (with no spaces). The call went to my land line answering machine - they did not leave message.  

Called this morning on cell phonce and left no message.  I have had these "Microsoft" calls before on my landline, but this is the first one in about a year, thank goodness.  

The guy with a foreign accent was smart enough to not identify himself as a Microsoft employee. But he did say he was calling about my Windows computer. I told him I didn't have one. He asked if I had a PC and you could practically hear his exasperation and eyes rolling. I told him I was running Ubuntu and he probably wasn't smart enough to know what that was. I then hung up on him. Even with the insult, he hasn't called back. Guess he figured out I wasn't going to fall for it and he had better things to do with his time than harass me, unlike those FBI/IRS scammers.

Called 8/25/14.  He said the name of the company so fast the only thing I picked up was Windows.  Asked for me by name & said he was calling about the problem with my computer.  I told him I had not called anyone about a problem.  Then he said he meant to say they were getting so many calls from my area code that they were calling everyone to check their computers. I said, "Yeah, right.  Don't call here again." Then I hung up.

Yeah sure. Number just called, didn't even bother answering. What legit company uses the number 111-1111?!?! GTFO!
