call from 305-890-1628. wanted to verify personal info to send me a new  med. card. had most of the info correct. Wanted to verify checking account info, asked for bank routing # and checking account #. Was told if I did not give them the info they could not send the new card. I refused and they disconnected the call. (FLORIDS 4.00 PM CENTRAL TIME 9/9/13). Telephone scam to get Bankaccount info.

Received a call from 305-890-1628 on 9/10/13.  Caller stated that I was to receive a new medical card, but all persoanl information had to be verified before the card could be sent. The caller had my name, phone, & address correct.  The caller asked the name of my bank to verify that they had reached the correct person.  Then he demanded that I get my check book and read all the account numbers to verify they were correct before the new medical card could be sent.  I said "No, this is a scam!" The caller hung up.  The person calling had a heavy accent, said he was calling from Floridia.  There was much talking and chattering background noise at the caller's end of the conversation.

I just hung up (I think) on the same caller.  Heavy accent...he used the new Medicare card approach too and had my address and telephone number correct (public information so far no problem).  Then he started to say "We need to verify..." and at this point I interrupted said "No.  I think this is a scam!" and hung up.  The Medicare approach is scary if you're a senior (as I am) because it sounds so plausible.

Heavy accent called me also.  Asked me to verify name, address that he had.  He stated the name and address correct, then asked for bank name.  I told him to tell me what he had, he said no.  Then told him politely to put my number on DO NOT CALL list.  He refused to do so.  I repeated it several time to put me on DNC and he kept refusing then stated that he would call back.  Reporting to FAA now.

When you get a call like this from Florida, you best bet is to contact the state Attorney General's office with the information that you believe this to be a scam.  They can do an investigation to verify your suspicions.
Give them the caller's phone number and his spiel about med cards.

Rec'd  call from Mr Anderson (heavy Indian accent ) stating a new Medicare card is to be mailed . I asked ''why are we getting new cards?" and he hung up.  New cards are not issued unless something changed with your coverage, ie: new last name, new id# etc. DON'T GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THESE  TELEMARKETERS, GOOD WAY TO STEAL YOU IDENTITY

I received basically the same kind of call from a man with a very heavy accent.  He had my correct address and phone number and when he said he was going to send a new social security and Medicare card I asked why.  At that point he got verbally abusive (swearing) and he said he was going to cancel my cards because I ask too many (swear word) questions.  I reported the call to our local police.

I got the same call for my husband.  After I told the heavily accented caller I did not think he was in the US and that I would give him no information he hung up.  I have turned in numerous scam callers to the no call list but it doesn't seem to do any good.  We usually just don't answer our phone anymore.  A shame.

I recieved a phone call today from this number Sept. 16   The caller had a heavy accent and said every one would be getting new medicare cards. He had my correct address and phone number. Then he asked for the name of my bank.  I figured this was a scam and did not give him the info. I then told him no way and hung up on him.

Received two calls - one 9/13/13 and 9/16/13.  Same spiel.  Said he needed our bank information to

My mother received the same call. Man with heavy accent called to "verify" personal information in order to receive new Medicare cards.  He had her SS# then wanted her to verify the last numbers of her bank account.   Said this was a scam and hung up and he called right back and asked for it again. Now she is really worried.  Where should this be reported?
