This may be a scam. Scammers are using bought/hacked loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.

The caller left me a message on my cell, but somehow they used my brothers name?!
The message was left by a "Michael Jones" who said "there's a lawsuit filed against you... please call ASAP..." etc etc.  Left no name of who/what organization he's with.

I called the number he left 888-883-9029 but no one picked up.

The call sounded a bit garbled, as if they were using an internet based telephone service to hind who they actually are.  I'm in IT so I'm familiar w/the VoIP sound quality.

A michael jones called looking for my son, left message on my Answering Machine.  Said he had a judgement against him and gave a case number.  I called and was a voice recording.... in so many words told them to [***]...

Richard just called and saod that they were trying to serve me little as he know I am a paralegal so he went on to talk all type of noise then I told him about my FDCPA Rights and If He is not a layer he can not threatimg me with legal action!!  Needless to say he hung up!! I am Dealing with my father funeral but when its all over I will sue the whole company!!!

They said the same to me!!!!

 I just spoke with Richard 15 mintues ago and he told me the same exact thing.  He told me to shut up that i was a life long debteor, and said I was a irroanget [***] and so on and so on..so if you do sue them please keep me posted because i would like to do the same way.

same thing happened to me!  I did pay them because my husband freaked out because he got a call at his employment saying they were going to serve him!  then gave him the number to call!  I am very frustrated right now...

Some Michael Jones left me a message saying he was looking for some Juan Maldonado (quien es ese tipo?) to talk about a lawsuit against him. He also left a phone number (888-883-9029) and a case number 36864 and another number that I didn't get. Sound familiar?

I received a phone call from this company and I told them that I was on disability and cannot pay at this time.  The guy got really nasty and started calling me names. I told him that I'm sick and he started asking me questions about my illness and then got really insulting again. He then wanted a verbal statement as to what my illness is and when I refused to say that on the phone he got nasty again.  This is a very bizarre person.

I think that this is a scam and that these people are fraudulently aquiring peoples information with the intention of extorting money.

Michael Jones also left me a message stating that "someone has filed a complaint about me" and call to discuss pending legal action at phone number 888-883-9029.

"Michael Jones" called my work today and asked the person who answered for my supervisor. He asked what is was regarding and he told him that they were going to serve me at work tomorrow. I received this same call at work six months ago from "Michael Jones" and heard the same story so I knew it was a bunch of BS. I picked up the phone and told him he was not to call or come to my work. He told me this was the only address and phone number on file for me and I could call this 888 number and make arrangements to be served elsewhere. For anyone who is freaking out over this idiot calling, DON'T! It is a scam.

I received a call saying I was being served a summons to appear in court  -  the person had my DOB and asked me if that was correct -  then gave me 888-883-9029 with claim # to call back and make arrangements to be served a summons  -  he said he could not give me any info (I never asked for any) because info was locked.  However, he said if I was not at home to receive summons, I would be shown as failure to appear.  I called the number but someone just answered Hello  -  I hung up  -  then John Mason called me an hour later saying I had called in but when I was transfered, call disconnected.  He was not sure if it was their phone or my phone, but it was in my best interest to call back due to it being a serious legal matter.   I'm just not sure what to do,  maybe I should contact an attorney

Just got a call from a number that I had previously blocked from my phone (they were calling and not leaving any message). First call - March 18; 2nd call May 3, 3rd call June 6.  Today they left a message on my voicemail for my stepdaughter asking for her under her maiden and married name.  The message was from Michael Jones and he said there was a legal complaint against my stepdaughter.  She was to call 888-883-9029 ASAP because the matter was "legal and time sensitive".  Michael gave her a case # and said to asked for Bradley Vick concerning the "pending action filed against her".

Does sound like a scam of some sort.  FYI...one usually doesn't have to make arrangements to pick up a summons....the other party's attorney will make those arrangements.

This place is a joke!! "Richard" just called me an ignorant b!#@h and told me that he cannot believe what middle America is coming too. I dont know the person that they are asking for BUT they did give an address that I lived in 7 YEARS AGO!!  

Something is just not right about these people. He ran the name by me real fast and I didnt get it and when I asked for it again he pulled out a VERY strong spansih accent and said P(something) locators.

I recieved a Private number from an individual who stated he was serving me with a court summons as well.  I asked for a phone number and contacted the number issued.  Richard offered me to settle with an amount.  DO NOT CONFIRM ANY DEBT.  He tryed to get it out of me that I owed debt.  You do not need to say a thing!  Check the statutes of limitation for your state.  After informing him that my Mother was a civil criminal judge in my county and that I would check out if I am under any pending court hearings he stated that it was not actually a summons but a cleary outlined settlement like the one he was giving.  He continued on to insist he was not a debt collector and that, although at the beginning of the call said he needed to retrieve my legal documents, he did not have the name of the law firm handling my documents that would be presented to my home.  

I then informed him that it is illegal to state you are intending to sue someone when it is only the intention to collect a debt.  It is also illegal to state you are not a debt collection agency when you actually are.  At no time did he rant of the "This is an attempt to collect a debt anything you say can be used in order to collect the debt" which is also required by law.  

Educate yourself people.  Don't let punks like this harass you.  As long as you call them back they have no legal right to try to contact you at work or through family and friends.

Great link.  It details what is illegal for a collector attempting to collect a debt.  Using profanity is one of them.  It also has links to the agencies needed to file complaints against them.  PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELVES.  DO NOT CLAIM ANY DEBT EVEN IF YOU MAY HAVE HAD IT.  THEY THRIVE ON FEAR.
