Fun with Telemarketers

Fun with telemarketers is ok. BUT to get off the call list is easy. When they call just ask in a nice way to be removed from the list. . BUT if you are an a** they can punch one of several keys to

1. call back at a certain time. Such as 11 pm or some other odd hour as cust is day sleeper.
2.call back per customer
3. remove  you from list.
and several others they can use to annoy you with. I just tell them  that they called at a very bad time as we are having a wake for them now.
You will be removed .
It takes about 12 weeks to be removed from the  call list.

Really, then why have I been getting calls from the same people, daily, for 9 months.  They even tell me they will call as much as they want.  They change their fake number and call over and over and over again.  You get tired of not being able to answer the phone you pay for because it could be one of these crooks.

My bf calls telemarketers that call us multiple times and tie up their phone lines over and over with bull. Sometimes he pretends he's interested, sometimes he just demands a do not call policy. Its a good way to find out how many people are running these baloney places and getting names. I think anyone who gets calls like this call back several times and spam them!

Yeah when I worked as a telemarketer, if I was talking to a jerk I would just schedule them to get a phone call at 11:00 pm.  Or I would schedule them to get called again in 15 minutes.  I love playing with all the people that try to give me crap.  I would give it right back to the customer and then we would all laugh about it in our office.  Same thing if somebody would leave me on the line for a while.  Just schedule them to get a callback in 15 minutes.

Wouldn't it be better if the telemarketer spent their time calling new people. Instead of messing with the ones that already rejected them. You couldn't have been too successful with your job. Plus the company looks bad when it's employees are acting childish.

I got phone calls from an infamous number: 866-463-3021. Went through many pangs to stop them, waiting endlessly on hold with chase to put my name on the "no contact" list, registered with every no call agency--no results.  Until finally, when they called the last time, I got DEMONIC on the phone. Used a frightening voice and yelled in a psychotic fashion repeating "Who do you represent?" in the most disturbing voice I could make. I even scared myself. They never called back. Its good for them they didn't because my next tactic would be pornographic suggestions, no matter the gender of the caller on the other side--man, woman, animal, mineral. I'm ready to suggest mutual participation in some seriously disgusting activities to these phone spammers to get them to stop calling me. But it looks as if demonic voices work fine. I guess you just need to know how to get your number on the REAL no call list.

I have a phone hooked up threw the cable company. It has some nice features. One is that you can pick up to 12 numbers that are allowed to call you. And all other calls made to your phone will be given a nice message. You can also do it where you take up to 12 numbers and block them from calling your phone. You can switch numbers or not have the feature on at all. It also has it where if they have a blocked ID when calling, they will get a recording asking them to unblock their number if they would like to get threw to you. I don't get charged extra for this. I didn't even know about it till I was reading threw the booklet. Maybe it's something your phone service offers.
(Oh, the reason I block calls is from the in-laws who call all hours of the night.)

Great UTube video and lesson on how to deal with these people, if you have some extra time. I had a telemarketer for "Girls Gone Wild" call me and say they got my name because I dealt with them, which was a lie. So, I got mad on a subsequent call (there were many, many calls and ignoring them did  not help). My conversation was a loooooong story about how I had been in prison (lie) for many years and then had decided to change my life around and not watch porn. This went on for awhile and at the end I told him that my new job was as a Catholic Priest.  Click!  He was gone and I wasted ten minutes or more of his time.

This works if you have the time.  By the way, the owner (multi-millionair of the company producing "Girls Gone Wild" is in prison, the last I heard. Looks like he cannot prove that the girls were all consenting to the photography and were over eighteen years of age.

Anybody besides me find it ironic that someone claiming to be Peter Frampton, (who has the smallest willy in rock and roll according to some of the more famous groupies of the era) is trying to call you out about unsuccessful hookups?  Sounds like the voice of experience to me.

Telemarketers are valid members of any company's sales force.  If any of you knew anything about business you would already be aware of this.  Every single company with a clue has people making outbound calls, even residential if the that's what their selling.  You're not 'hurting' the company at all by screwing with a telemarketer, you're just giving some working person a hard time to no effect.  Why don't you give the drive-thru person at McDonald's a hard time the next time they ask if you want to Super Size it?  In your minds I guess this would mean sticking it to McDonald's.  The Do Not Call List is a complete joke.  There are several ways such as going to specific web sites sponsored by companies that will automatically put you back on their call list even if you requested to be removed.  Sounds to me like a bunch of nobodies want to 'get even' with large corporations by futily giving working people like themselves the run around.

For the simple reason that I choose whether or not to go to McDonalds. Telemarketing calls are UNSOLICITED, almost always unwanted and usually difficult to prevent recurring.

It would be nice if all it took was asking politely to be permanently removed from the list of numbers, but I can count the number of times this has worked on one hand. If asking a company not to call again and signing up for the don't call lists is not sufficient to prevent marketing calls then the companies' policies are entirely to blame for any bad reactions to their calls.

I'm sure it sucks to be a telemarketer working for such a company, but there are many jobs that can be made miserable because of dumb management policies - suck it up or change jobs.

Oh, and you're a "somebody?" By the sounds of things, you put these poor creatures in that situation. You are DIRECTLY responsible. J***-off.

Whenever I see a telemarketer or "unknown" on caller ID. I just click the answer button on the cordless phone and set it right in front of the stereo speaker, so whether it's jazz, or classical, or dance, or rock, or TV that's on the stereo at that time, that's what the caller hears.

Like eternal music-on-hold!

Usually when I check back in 5-10 minutes, they've hung up and there's a dail tone or dead line on the other end.

Best thing to do when they call you at dinner is to say:

I know how important this call is to you so give my your home phone number so I can call you back at home during dinner and talk to you."

They hang up every time.

I'm 53, the head of the house. They always ask for "mr. plonker" I say "S**t, you must want my dad. I'll go get him". I leave the phone off the hook and go away shouting dad! Dad! decreasing the volume of my shouts the further i get from the phone. Then I "shout" in a deeper voice "who the furk is it son?" and i stomp back to the phone, breathing hard, and say "Who shall I say is calling?" They tell me and I shout their name. But by now, "dad" has gone out to the garden to start doing yard work. A very faint yell of "what the furk do they want?" then a lot of stomping back to the phone and I breathlessly ask "what is it you would like to speak to him about?"....
and on it goes..
the longest i had one waiting was 45 minutes.. i even took one of my dogs for a walk while i was looking for my dad.. the neighbors thought I had gone crazy walking down the sidewalk "shouting" dad where are you in my cordless phone.. until I explained.
the challenge is on .. can you beat 45 minutes?
