Yelling at TMS Won't Make You Get Your number on a Do Not Call List (Telemarketers Will Talk)

I like to turn the tables on the telemarketers and drive them crazy. I remember one time I was visiting my cousin at his house and he got a call from a company trying to give him free magazine subscriptions. After 5 minutes of telling the salesperson he did not want any free magazines, he gave me the phone. I  started requesting  magazines that did not exist and asking if they had magazines catering to different "kinks" of an adult nature including animals, amputees, circus freaks etc!

Another  weapon against them is to tell them you are currently in the restroom taking care of business. Ask them to hold on a second and take the phone into the bathroom and flush the toilet. Making assorted noises or telling them "hold on I got **** on my fingers.. i need to wash my hands" is fun too.

I also like to tell them "hold on" then just set the phone down and go about my business. If someone else is around we will talk about the weather or talk about the dumb telemarketer that is sitting there waiting for me to come back and answer the phone

Another solution is to give the phone to a two year old.

I hope these solutions are helpful.

We or "you people", your derogatory term for us, are annoyed by TMS.. What good is your BA degree, w/o a CPA license?..

Look 4 another job, that doesn't involve abusive phone calls...

Hey Pat? heads up ...You keep surfing the web and playing like this you WILL lose your job. Go back to work. And btw...Your unemployment is paid by you (deductions from your paycheck) and your employee. Not me or anyone else. You go into bankruptcy, sure those debts are written off somewhat and prices are affected after multitudes of people like you use it, but not really. You do end up paying for those items before it is all said and done and your credit is tanked for at least 7 years. That is definitely not my problem. and WAIT...you gotta be employed and living in the US for it to even be available to you

My problem, along with everyone else that reports callers like you, is you are wasting our time. You are rude, disruptive and scammers. You are selling crap no one wants and anyone who gets it or agrees to it did so out of ignoranance. You prey on the stupidity of others and you know this.
So Pat (if that's your real name), call me if you wish, send me what you wish. You won't get paid, you will get reported and I will be more than rude to you.

Go be a prostitute...you are screw people. Might as well get paid better to do it.

    Hi Patricia Kelley
You have my sympathy for doing a job I could never do, but that’s as far as my personal humanity extends to cold callers. My phone relationship with you (and other telemarketers) is purely business so my interactions will not convey that sympathy; I will resent your unwanted interruptions.
This post of yours is one that pops up occasionally where telemarketers explain to us, the recipients of telenuisance, why we should be sympathetic and polite to your unwanted calls. Your plea is that, ‘We're just doing our job... If you don’t want our products just say no...’
This is so that you and your colleagues can feel okay about your work–yeh? But the issue is that it comes at the expense of our privacy and time-poor evenings. Don’t you get it? Patricia, you are not the only one doing it; there are 1000′s of Patricias’ out there all doing the same thing. A drop of water onto the forehead is just that, a drop, but a thousand drops on the forehead is torture.
Any readers who wish to join me in this ‘war on terror,’ in the fight against telepest tyranny, I have a blog which offers advice and pranks. http://prankingtelemarketers87ways.wordpress.com
    Cheers  Jimmy

There was a time when American Citizens could place a sign out, saying "No Solicitors" to let traveling door-to-door salesmen that they should not come-a-callin'

We thought that the National Do Not Call Registry would be the equivalent.

We Citizens are under siege of a barrage of cacaphony.  Threats.  Up-Sales. Cold-Calls. And in between, we need to know how our family is doing.

That's why this website has my respect,

and yet you still have my empathy in this economic time.

Tell your company they should be transparent, and forthright in marketing -- have the Caller ID say it's from your company -   I'll answer the call, and order product if I actually want to,

But this website also helps those who are being victims of illegal activity, and we all need to recognize the value of our combined awareness.

    Report the truth.

Today I had someone call me, the Caller ID said "Unknown 1" so I let it ring. The ringing did bot stop after the usual four rings, so I ignored it and just let it ring (Between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM I disconnect my answering maching, (I do not want it cluttered with political "Robocalls"). So I took my dog for his daily walk, we walked for nearly 90 minutes when I returned a Neighbor said my phone was ringing, saying its been NONSTOP for over an hour. I picked up the phone and gave it a "Two-Fingered Salute" (Press "Talk and Off" Keys in quick succession) and put the phone down. As for the Buffoons who originated this call I wish I could have seen the look on their face when they checked their computer and found no answers for over an hour!

If you weren't bothering people in the first place, they wouldn't even be talking to you let alone yelling.  Being out of work doesn't give you the right to make everyone else miserable.

If I do that and say anything negative I think you know by this post that I would get fired. I am smarter than that and know what to do and not to do. Even to telmarketers are the hated party would you rather me to that rather than have my hand out on the street bumbing off of everyone and going to every free place and getting food and stuff at the doll of the taxpayers. At least we are trying to work rather than being bumbs or taking drugs. I never took drugs at all and feel bad about the time I was unemployed and that is why I took anything to get by. The unemployment rate is so bad here we have many people with BS degrees working up here and want to work and have to work since we only get a certain number of weeks of unemployment and you get laid off by a call center that was in Portland for 26 years only for them to give you no severence and no help in finding other work and letting 200 people go and most of us losing our places to live because of it.

Why should I be a prostitute? I have some intregity and do not want to spread disease to others and never had done this horrible kind of work. You sound really unhappy and I have talked to many people on the phone who are and have alot of money and are the most unhappiest people in the world. They have told me with money everyone in your family wants it and calls you to ask for it. Even tho we are hated at least we are working and not sponging on Ss and scamming the system taking SS. Oregon has one of the highest fraud rates in the nation for Ss fraud. I know tons of people who say they are on disability and getting a check and can drive a car and do many physical things and can do many other things. I cannot get it and have severe osetoarthritis and cannot walk at all. You can report me all you want to but based on what I have read on here the National No Call list is not working and the millions of call center workers that have been laid off because of this are on welfare here in Oregon and other states and have cost the feds and the states to have a huge deficit.  People want to pass laws that eliminate tons of jobs. (NAAFTA) So it is good to eliminate jobs and keep doing so. How much more of a state and federal deficit do you want now? They were trying in 2003-2004 to get a do not bother me law for people who come up to you in stores and ask you questions and thank god they did not do that for 9 years like they spent on telemarketing when this company during these years was going down the tubes. If I do not get paid-I depend on you and the government and pay no taxes and you have to pay MY bills and taxes when people who do not work have to file for bankruptcy-remember that.

You and your self pity make me sick! oooooooohhhhhh wah wah wah..... I can't do this in Oregon because the unemployment rate are soooooo bad...... Oregon has an unemployment rate of 9.1% there are 12 other states with higher rates. I live in California where it is 11.3%.  Sh*t happens, move if it is that hard to find a job. Look here http://www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstrk.htm for a state with more employment per capita. Or you can do what most other people in Oregon do..... Grow more weed and bring it to Ca. Surely you can get off your [***] for that, might even make your arthritis feel better. Considering it is a great pain med. Stop your whining, do something about your situation. If you don't like your job, MOVE!!!!!!

PS I have worked in call centers multiple times (collections, complaint departments {best ever!!!}, sales {inside and out}, and as a reservation agent) and never once did I sit and whine to complete strangers about how it is not my fault that I was intentionally pissing off my customers. I didn't care.
