Is telemarketing dying?

All continents were devoid of people before they arrived, whatever means that is. So the first inhabitants to stay here were the animals and plants. I am not saying taking over somebody else's property is right, but it happened in the past. What happened in the past happened, we cant change history. We are talking about the present and dealing with problems that are happening right now.

If we had the means to change history, you me or anybody else here wouldn't be typing to each other. Maybe we wouldn't even exist. If you are trying to defend scammers and illegal immigrants by bringing up an old argument you have some sort of vendetta in your mind.

Both you and me know that most of the ones who spoof call people here are after one thing, the dollar. But they are forgetting something. People are working hard to earn it. Not everyone are born with millions in their bank accounts. People work hard for hours to make it. They work hard to make a living, trying to support their families and their children. Sitting behind a computer for hours and making spam calls isn't hard work.

Sorry if my message was offensive; I was trying to point out (in an incoherent way) that "telemarketer"-the poster, was someone trying to be funny.  I agree with your points on the illegal immigrant issue but that is for another forum.  I also am angered to boil every time one of these scumf&cks calls my DNC registered (also unlisted) house phone at all hours of the day and night and do know for a fact that the majority of these calls come from overseas.  It is very frustrating to know that they can harass and con thousands of Americans from behind their computers at some filthy foreign outpost and yet we all know damn well that our marines, army, navy, air force etc... could wipe their [***] off the face of the planet in one fell swoop (but we know thats probably not going to happen any time soon).  I think of them as the nerd driver who cuts you off in traffic or flips you off while in their car but if they are face to face with you, they shut their loser mouths!

Interesting views you guys have, I'm actually not a telemarketer or an illegal immigrant. Just wanted to see what you guys would say.

I agree with you guys on illegal immigrants and that they should be deported.

It's up to the government to regulate the telemarketing sector. You guys are barking up the wrong tree. Its the illegal businesses who run these scams who should be charged not the telemarketers. Usually the person behind the phone is some poor person who is making minimum wage, I'm not saying their right in working there but you guys need to focus your anger on the frauds who are profiting from this kind of business.

And i strongly urge all of you to file a complaint with the CRTC everytime a telemarketer calls, clog up their complaints system and they will notice that something is wrong.

Whenever I need some cash, I go to the local telemarketing firm(s) and get a job.  I get the training and then I quit.  Payback's a biotch :)

Thats alright. I wasn't mad at you. I just feel sick that people are being abused. Cowards making threatening calls thinking people will get scared and fall for their lies. They are using fear to harass people who are going on with their daily lives. Until they get caught those cowards will remain in hiding making robo calls and fake threats.

I have worked with telemarketing companies for my business and they are not all scammers, we actually had a lot of success with the campaign so it proves if done correctly, following regulations by a skilled and experienced telemarketing company then it could work well. We explored other options such as e-mail marketing and mail campaigns, but found that these often have lower response than telemarketing. I would use telemarketing again. I am on the Do Not Call list.  If you call me and its not for a charity or a political issue or taking a survey you are commiting a crime.  More important, if you call me it will backfire.  I will be less likely to help your cause.

Telemarketing is electronic home invasion, plain and simple.  If it isn't "opt in" it ought to be illegal.

Bollocks, the word I believe you were looking for, would most likely have been found on a bullock, right up until the moment he became a bullock.

Having lived in the UK, and having raised cattle, I am well familiar with both terms.

Incidentally, while bollocks on its own is used in the same way as we use the term for what is frequently found on the ground behind both bulls and bullocks, the term "dog's bollocks" means something like "great stuff", or the somewhat outdated "bee's knees".  On the other hand, "dog's breakfast" is a negative term, implying a big mess, or disaster.
