Winter Park firm slapped with $1.3M No Call fine

JACKSON, Miss. —

The Mississippi Public Service Commissioner has fined a Florida company $1.3 million for 266 violations of the state's No Call law.

The PSC says in a news release that Global Financial Assist LLC of Winter Park, Florida, was cited for 266 telemarketing violations.

Regulators say Global Financial Assist made unauthorized telephone solicitations to residential customers without purchasing the Mississippi No-Call database. The $1.3 million fine is the maximum allowable under that law and must be paid within 20 days from the date of the PSC order.

I'm really hoping this doesn't turn into another 'fine reduce due to inability to pay'. A little time behind bars due to inability to pay would be better.
