caller said he was from Dept.army relief grants, his name was sean hopkins, he said he will deposit $ 5.000 grant in my account i gave him my debit card # my wife is very upset she thinks its a scam please let me know if this is a scam   please email me at john1882@comcast.net

Its a scam .. called telling me i received a grant for being a consister tax payer lol

male with heavy accent called, claims he is from Washington DC (200 Indp SW Ave,20201)   by the name of Wilson Smith.  Name does not jive with accent.  He gave me the option of direct deposit, check or cash. Said I needed to contact the treasury department for $7,000 free grant.  I asked him a series of personal questions and he became agitated. I mentioned I would call consumer fraud.  Eventually, he disconnected the call, about 13 minutes later.  I agree with response from Mike in MD.  

It also happened to me. Sept 16, 2014. Just like you said heavy accent. I asked "is this a scam"? He said " What proof you have of a scam?" I replied...That's all I needed. I hope no one gets taken by these punks!

I received a call from Consumer Services (from caller id) 708-529-4774 and he told me I had been chosen to get a grant from the US Government. I needed to call this number 202-657-5304 to collect. He gave me the option of cash in my account or pick up at Western Union. He called back to see why I had not called the number this time the caller id stated it was Longview Washington and the number was 360-200-0360. When I said is this a scam he asked me what proof I had of a scam. Very heavy accent I just hung up!
