Person called my husband at work looking to collect a debt that is nonexistent.

The person I talked to at this number said they were a collection agency and a law firm. No reason for me to be getting these calls.  They said it was a mistake (couldn't find my "file") and took my number out of their system.  Apparantly, they call anyone with a similar name if they don't have complete info.  Very difficult to get info from them - wouldn't say how they got my name or why calling.  They mentioned a name attached to the file that I had never heard before- a person I didn't know,  and then removed me from their list.   My concern is I now have to check my credit reports to make sure someone else's bad info hasn't been attached to my file.  Another headache I don't need!

They call people at random and claim you owe money just in case you will pay up. You probably don't owe any money but you may pay just because you are scared.

anonymous call -- left message said was "Pete Martin" and to call this number on a "personal business matter".  I've had to fight debt collector calls for nearly 4 yrs over someone else's s*** who had my phone number prior to my getting it.  And yes, I have changed my phone number several times trying to get out of this.  Doesn't seem to matter.

Hello this is steve martian calling, I have an important personal business matter to discuss with you.  Its a debt collector call.  Google his name and wellah, its an attorney.  Joy.
