Excellent show. It is hoped that it will help to serve as a catalyst for debt collection reform in this country.

Elizabeth Warren, a Harvard economist summed it all up:

"Middle-class America is under attack, and it's under attack in part from a multi-billion dollar industry that has figured out that you can just keep carving profits out of them, carving profits out of them. So long as the guys at the top can get a free walk, then you'd better believe the practices are gonna stay just as dirty as they are right now".

your response is "LHR" some second rate collection agencey, which by all means should be held accountable for their actions, including the collectors involved, but i point to the problem. watch the Delores Parker-Jackson story. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/29827386#29827387

dude listen. your obvisously a smart guy. I apologize for any bad names or negativity i said about you. i sincerely take it back. However listen.
this is a great video, thanks for the links, but no sir it i s not the problem. in this video, it show liars loans, both the barrowers and lenders, so number one contrywide deserves to go out of business, which they almost did before being saved and bought buy bank of america which is also one of the worst places to do business in america so bof a should also fail. second all the people that did not qualify and lied do in fact deserve to lose thier homes. and ald everyone that says they did not read the loan and purchace file, are you kidding me where is the accountability, they too deserve to lose thier home for making the wrong choice, dont get a arm loam and read what you sign so you can cath the lie before the mess happens, so it is not debtors or consumers it is the major people that the barrowers and debtors are complaining about. they have a right to complian, look what countrywide did, look what congress did. and they are supppose to be federally regulated bythe governemt, how did the government allow this to happen. whhich dont get me started on politics, one i am not politically "edjamactd" so to speak in politic nor am i a politician, but most blame bush, i do not, i do in fact blame the governemtn as a whole. may i add your video link state the truth, the housing market changed during the 1990"s during the clinton administration a democrat, not bush who is a republican but yet still teh country blames bush for the mrotgage meltdown so to speak. BS, clinton did it and no one can handle the truth or accept the fact and thats whats wrong with people my friend, they dont know the truth and the dont own up to thier responsibiltys, i did not see one person in that video that did not deserve to lose thier house, sorry, i hate to say it, but they made the wrong choice, its up to them to pick themselves up and go on strogn like it sounds like you and i have. no i am not a rep. or a democrat, i dont know what i am but i do know i have an opinion and i am entittled to it. i just think people should wake up and stop wanting things for free, and work hard in life. ok, enough rambling, my breakfast is done. i got to go. i really do sincerely apologize to you again, and wouldnt mind talking to you, set up a "DUMMY" email account and i'll email you. we can talk there. were destryoing this posting site.

calls several times a day from this number and a recording states that we should take down this number 800-807-7796 and that they are calling from the law offices of weltman, wineburg and reese. we are getting very tired of the harassment and do not plan to call them back. We do not have any outstanding debt that is in collection so they have no reason to be calling us.

I have done extensive research on them- I sent them 44 pages-It cost me around a $100. I sent a letter to every address listed on their website-plus I got the home address of all the stockholders on the Secretary of State Website Ohio for this firm.  I sent them documentation of various lawsuits ect-  They have been sued all over.  A bottom feeder/scavenger/3rd rate collection agency cannot collect on a debt that has been charged off by the original collector.  refer them to the State Attorney's Office and Your State Attorney General.  I am sure once they start receiving their mail this week- It will be a wake up call.  Knowledge is Power.  I can just see their heads spinning now!! The last collection agency I got dirt on the calls stopped in three days.

I also got a message from this supposed "LAW FIRM" on April 29, 2009 advising me to call 800-718-2807 asap.  I made the call today April 30, 2009 and was transferred to a gentleman who identified himself as Ron James. He advised me that his firm was contracted by Capitol One bank to set up arrangements to settle my delinquent account and that if I did not do so today they would start suit against me within 5 days.

The original amount he stated that I would need to pay immediately was outrageous due to interest. I advised that I could not pay that amount now or in the near future and asked if it were possible to pay a set amount monthly. He advised that it must be the full amount within 5 days or else they would file suit against me and that I would need to seek legal representation.

I explained that I am on Social Security and that I certainly didn't have that amount and that maybe I should contact a bankruptcy attorney. Mr. James immediately stated that maybe he could work out something for me so that I could make monthly payments, however I would be charged an additional $32/month for the priveledge of making monthly payments.

I told him that was ridiculous and outrageous and again he advised that he could cancel the interest if the amount I would be able to pay was sufficient enough to meet their standards. I foolishly set up a monthly payment arrangement with him because with my income I cannot affort legal fees if Capitol One would sue me.  Now I'm in a panic after reading previous comments and am very concerned that my foolish decision after being intimidated and threatened by Mr. James, that my checking account will be frozen, etc..   What can I do???

Found out for sure who these people are, from another phone number website. They are a company called "National Debt Services Inc."
Of course they are scumbags like all these agencies doing the typical illegal collection activities. Just go to the FTC website and file a complaint against them for illegal debt collection practices of the FDCPA.
Don't bother filing a complaint on the DNC list area go to the FTC website itself and use that complaint area. Also send out a C & D letter if they get too annoying, and they'll have to stop the calls and do everything via mail...which they probably won't as they're not legit. These companies prey on unsuspecting consumers and try to intimidate them into paying things they're not even in debt for, but so many consumers don't know the laws of the FDCPA that they pay them and that's how these companies stay in business.

They have been calling and leaving messages on my phone for about two months, and only just now identified themselves. I assumed they were telemarketers, too, since the messages just had another 800 number to call. They should be required to identify themselves right off if they are a legit debt collection agency.

They have several offices in Ohio. I just sent a C & D letter to their firm. I see from these comments they are the typical scumbag collection entity. I also filed a complaint with the FTC. All our debts were in our BK that was just discharged - they obviously don't follow the letter of the law. I never use the DNC list for my complaints; I always use the REG FTC website and file the consumer complaint form... Also filed complaints with the ATT GEN offices of my state of NV and the state of OH - if need be I will forward their info to the BK trustee...

Go ahead and seek legal help; and if you gave them any critical info such as bank accts info, etc... you will need to go to your bank and ask them the best thing to do. When we were going through our bk we left our accts open with just a few pennies in them, so when it was over we didn't have to start a new acct with them. Our banks do not have a minimum balance requirement though - also you could put a freeze on your accts so that no debits/credits can come out of them. It's annoying to do that but no matter where you get an acct they can skip trace to find any new one you may open up. Your best bet is a filing of bk so they can't touch anything... Hope that helps. Don't waste any time though they could rob you dry and you have no recourse and it's hard to get money back when someone already has it...

They have been calling 2 days in a row now, and I came on to this site to look into what it might be about. I'm glad I did, though I don't feel much better about it. I've not answered the phone, and both times they left a 'busy signal' message. I don't plan on answering, but I hope this doesn't turn into a mess like I'm hearing from some others. Companies like this should not be allowed to operate. I don't have so much as a late payment, and should not be hearing from law firms, or bill/debt collectors, whoever these people are.

    FED UP!
These people call several times a day - often just a few minutes apart. IMHO that is harassment. The caller ID says "Law firm",  but I get the same call xxxxxxxxx on xxx day between the hours of xxx type message.

This "firm" is nothing more than a bottom feeder nickel on the dollar collection agency. I have some outstanding debts where the creditor already wrote off debt by the time I could pay them.... this is why I know these are just bottom feeding boiler room collectors.

    re:  Bud Hibbs
If you go to budhibbs.com, you can read about your boys at Waltman, Weinberg, and Reis.
Kind of makes you wonder how these guys sleep at night . . . .
    or . . . . maybe they don't.
    Who knows.
But anyone who has spent a considerable amount of time on here would know that Bud doesn't have time to sleep with the enemy.
    Do you?

This number called me I was not home I saw that it said law firm so I called it back and it was after office hours and noone answered. I looked it up here and it seems I am not alone. I DO NOT have any debt so I dont know why they are calling me. I am also on the do not call list! I will watch the next time they call they WILL GET an earful from me. I know that the slumping economy is hurting everyone but they better not be thinking of anything silly because I DO KNOW the law and I WILL make sure they learn that crime does not pay the HARD way. if they are casing my home to rob haha good luck they will have too meat eating dogs greeting them at the door and if that isnt enough I WORK from home I will tear up whatever is left pf the carcus!
