I got charged $79.95 for my A-1 membership that I never order. I think I purchased a DVD on Financial Grant, which I never received. I canceled it on May 1st, said I would ge a refund on 10 days, called in 10 days, they said it comming, I just called today May 29, they said I got my refund on May 21st, I never did, so they told me to call back Monday. I'm going to keep trying, its not even the $79.95, I just don't want them to get away with it.

I also was somewhat curious like some of you guys about a cd about posting links for google and only having to pay 1.97 for shipping. However i wasn't aware of the 72.21 charge that would follow. I ordered the cd just to know what it was about and after that 72.21 charge i called to cancel and they gave me a cancellation number and assured me to not worry but 3 days later i received a 24.99 charge from this A1 member company. I'm truthfully enraged and I would spit in their face if i had them in front of me. Just some advice to people out there don't fall for their scam. What comes around goes around it'll catch up to them.

Try to call this A1 again for the last time to solve your problem, if they ignore you, call your bank and tell them that you did not authorize these charges, the bank will investigate the matter, and if it is proven to be a fraud, they will credit you back for the amount that these crooks have taken from your bank account.Believe me, if happened to me many times. I got my money back.
One more thing, I hav enoticed from these scammers, once you cancelled them, since they still have your bank infos, they will do their best to take money from your bank using different account name, say for example A1,they are also doing business as Google Treasure Chest.I learned from all these mistakes, never give them your Debit/Credit card number where you put most of your funds, just use a separate account for online shopping,so worst scenario, they can only take so much from this account.

I actually held on the phone and talked to a girl. She gave me the option of cancelling this free trial memebership, but now looking at my account I have been charged $24.97 you are right this is some [***]. These people should be caught immediately. Do not buy into these scams if sounds too good to be true then it is.

Hate to say this but I got scammed too and I am NOT very happy about it.

I was trying to do a good deed to help my little brother out in getting a summer job, so he signed up and I used my debit card to pay for the package that NEVER CAME... The stupid website didn't even have a place to enter the shipping address!

A few days later my brother calls me telling me that a google agent is on the line and wants to verify my credit card information. So I told him to go ahead and put her on line. As I was talking to her, I told her that I never got a confirmation number that I ordered the package but was charged for it.(1.97) She gave me phony number to call but she insisted on my cc info and I told her, let me call the # she gave me first and that I would contact her back when I got a response. I asked for her contact information. She couldnt give me her phone number. I asked for her email, and she couldn't give me that either. Since she insisted on my cc info I gave it to her(course I had canceled it already). She assured me that the package was on its way so I asked her politely, can you tell me where it is shipping to? And she HUNG UP! Stupid piece of $#^*! Anyway my lil bro was listening to the whole thing and was heart broken but at least I introduced him to the reality of this world that is unfortunately made up of a lot of sh^t bags walking around scamming struggling people like myself and my brother.

Anyway it was a lesson well learned. I was lucky that it was only a 1.97. How is this not on the front page news!?!?

I got into the same problem. My credit card was charged $72.21. I never authorised this amount of money. I filled the form for Google kit for $1.99 only and there was no any agreement as for next charge of $72.21. When I found out the credit card was charged , I called to the number of transaction of $72.21 and it was answering machine there. So I tried to do research online and I found this website. I understood that I should call to Capital One credit card service, and I did. They got all information as for my problem and told me that they would dispute charge. So now I will wait if I get my money back. Please, be careful everyone! That was first time when I trusted to something like that online. Now it will be a lesson for me.

    More about these scams

    http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/google-treasure-chest-c152771.html

http://strangelyperfect.tv/3401/google-treasure-chest-phone-and-address-list/  (This website shows the extent of the different addresses and phone numbers being reported in these scams that are using
the "Google" connection to bait people.)

    http://www.ivetriedthat.com/2009/01/30/beware ... 2/#comment-9362

It is being reported on the above websites that the cd kit has trogans and virus.  Their scam membership sites are full of worthless information that is easily found all over the internet and does not offer the help that they glowingly toot on their bait websites.  They do not have a viable product and they are illegally passing your financial information on to others without your legal permission to do so, in fact, they have not acquired your legal permission to debit anything other than the shipping cost of the dvd kit.  Nowhere on any of the sites that I have visited researching their methods did they offer proper disclosure about their intent to charge for a bogus membership nor did any of the sites offer any kind of form to be checked by the consumer that states that the consumer agrees to further terms and conditions with the transaction.  This is a requirement of FTC Dot com regulations on internet transactions.

Here is what my research about the "advance consent/negative option” that they are using has found.
In order to use the "negative option= Advance consent", which Google Treasure Chest is twisting; trying to make you think you have legally signed up for their membership, they have to follow Federal Trade Commission act law on its use.

Section 5 of the Federal Trade commission Act states it:

(1)Prohibits Unfair and Deceptive Acts or Practices
    Standard

    (2) Requires Clear and Conspicuous Disclosure of
Material Terms and Conditions-Failure to disclose
    material terms-violates Section 5

    The Definition of "Conspicuous
    1.  easily seen or noticed; readily visible or observable
    2.  attracting special attention, as by outstanding qualities or eccentricities
    3.  visible
    4.  manifest, noticeable, clear, marked, salient
    5.  obvious, blatant, blazing, open
    6.  Easy to notice; obvious.
    7.  Attracting attention, as by being unusual or remarkable; noticeable
    8.  Open to the view; obvious to the eye; easy to be seen; plainly visible; manifest; attracting the eye
    9.  easily recognized; clearly defined; notable; prominent; eminent; distinguished
    10. without any attempt at concealment; completely obvious
    11. call attention to

These scams do none of the above to make their intention conspicuous and known but chose instead to conceal,  shroud, curtain, veil, camouflage, cover, mask, cloak, keep in ignorance, screen, blot out, withhold, suppress, confuse, shadow, secrete, cache, disguise, sneak, cover up, deceive, and bury their terms and conditions behind an obscure link out of the view of the consumer. That is against the law governing the use of the "negative option=advance consent".  These thieves do not have legal permission to take 1 penny of our money by claiming use of the negative option/advance consent clause. They do "not" have a legal contract to do so.

FTC Guidelines goes on to state: Two fundamental principles
     Notice And Consent
    "Notice"
All material terms and conditions of the offer must be
disclosed in a clear and understandable manner

    "Consent"
The consumer must clearly and affirmatively consent
to the offer after all material terms and conditions
    have been disclosed:
All material terms and conditions must be disclosed  “before the consumer provides consent/incurs financial obligation.

Now read that Consent phrase again---you must clearly and affirmatively consent to the offer after all disclosure. It don't look to me like all of you said "yes" you understood and "yes" I want to sign up for your membership!!!  That also means that Google Treasure Chest should have had a disclosure notice near the
button where you entered your financial information.  A notice that you would have had to tick in order to show that you understood the terms and conditions and would "accept the Terms and Conditions of the sale".  They are only telling you that you have agreed to something which you in fact have not agreed to since disclosure was withheld  (hidden) until after they had started debiting you bank account!!!.

This website article shows that several of the scams are using same address and are geing investigated.  http://www.jhnewsandguide.com/article.php?art_id=4544

The best way to stop this is immediately cancel your cc or debit card, get a new card with new number, file fraud charge with your bank against this scam. Refer your bank to the above complaint websites to re-inforce your fraud claim.  File fraud complaints with your own state Attorney General, with the FTC (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/),and file with FBI (https://tips.fbi.gov/) and http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx   .  Filing with the BBB is toothless as BBB won't do much except pass your complaint on to the scamers who will  probably ignore it.

      Know Your Rights
Businesses must obtain your consent before enrolling you in a negative option plan.  This is because, under traditional contract law, businesses cannot charge you for goods that you do not order.  In fact, you are legally entitled to keep any unordered merchandise that you receive.

While the Negative Option Rule only applies to prenotification negative option plans, the FTC will take action against non-prenotification plans that it considers to be unfair or deceptive.  If you were enrolled in a negative option plan without your knowledge, and the terms and conditions of the plan were not described in a clear and conspicuous manner, you may file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: “we could not do anything for you" or “you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days".

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

    CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember… Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck… Let us know how you do!

Keep me posted. I went and filed a lost card and unuthorized transaction complaint over the phone as of last Thursday the 28TH. I had seen the transaction as pending on my account. Dispite all my efforts which included calling the Grant company and talking to China or something, I was debited $72.21 as of last night the 30TH. I was promised a refund, by an Ami in God knows wher, but was told it would take 7 to 10 days. I am pissed! If I can join you in any effort to recover our money please contact me. I'm now concerened about any future debits that might show up on my account.

    Good Luck,

I was also scammed when I purchased information for $1.97 about a work at home opportunity that I thought was from Google. And just like most of you, discovered days later that my card had also then been charged $72.21 for some A-1 membership fee. I called my credit card company and reported it to their fraud department and to their credit, they were sympathetic and helpful. They've agreed to refund the charge and advised me that now that the 'merchant' had my information, they would change my account and reissue my card. I guess I am just naive enough to always be shocked that there are people out there who are only to willing to completely do you in. By the way, prayers do work. Try Him.

I noticed their charge of $24.87 to my bank account.  After calling the
bank and receiving the number (1-866-200-5473), I called member support.
The guy who answered, Kasey, assured me that no charges would appear after
this one.  I told him "NO, I WANT A REFUND NOW!"  As it turns out, if I had not said this, the charge would have remained.  I also told him if his company had charged anything else to my account, they had best refund it.
He offered that they had charged $72.21 for "GoogleChest," and I needed to go to the website for a refund.  To get a refund from "A1member," call 1-866-200-5473 or go to support@mymembershiphelp.com.  For a refund from "Googlechest," also known as "Google Treasure Chest," go to www.googletreasurechest.com and scroll down to the bottom.  There you will find information on cancellation.

    UPDATE!!!:
I have received a credit to my account of $72.21.  This occurred today, June 1st.  I ate the $1.97 charge for the CD because I asked for it in a brief period of stupidity.
This does not get them off the hook.  I have not been billed any other charges and I will nhot cancell my debit card.  If I do that means they win.  I keep a daily check on my account balance to make sure that nothing else is charged to it.
I have a trail to follow and will file all necessary complaints.  I may have been successful in getting a refund but there are too many others who have not and have been billed additional amounts from associated companies.  This has to be stopped and these companies must be held responsible and made to pay.  Too many people have fallen victim to these scammers and iot is time to bring them down.
FYI, I never did receive any CD and it has been more than 10 days.
