left a vague recorded msg. about wanting to conduct a survey. didnt' say what it was for.

Received the same survey call 5 minutes ago.

The number 1.866.287.7747 showed up on my phone today. I found a match in this document online: www.briercrest.ca/about/documents/SaskChildProtectionServices.pdf , which lists the number as belonging to the Child Protective Services in Wynard, SK. As I'm in California, USA, a call from Child Protective Services in Canada seemed odd--and it certainly doesn't fit with other posters' survey experience.

It's a shill for REDLINE RECOVERY SERVICES. Bunch of criminals who use fake phone numbers. "Child Protective Services" yeah right. Another lie from a pack of rotten liars.

You might want to email them and let them know how you feel about being harassed on a daily basis for no reason.

I got a call from this number,too. It was an automated survey for the Federal Trade Commission. Or that's what the lady said. About two hours later they called again!

I called the number back and it was a survey for FTC. I recently phoned them, so I participated in the survey.

I recently phoned the FTC to see if a check I got was legit. It is just them calling to do a survey.  If you didnt recently contact the FTC you may want to do so to let them know someone is using there number.

Got a call at 3:01pm today (5/12/10) for a survey; didn't answer and they left a message trying to make me complete it.

If you're in the US, then it's the FTC calling you to see how they did.

If you're in Canada, then it's Child Protective Services for the Wynard district of Saskatchewan

I too received an autodial from this number a day after calling the FTC - it went through to voicemal - they wanted to do a survey, I'm sure to follow up on my interaction with them. It was legit.

Thank you for looking up the info AND posting it. I try to do the same and also advise others to do the same. It really helpd with the 'BS' calls and for being able to file a complaint against the caller.
(in this case I think it might have just benn a computer error.)

I called the Federal Trade Commision & this number called for a survey. The FTC helped me get back over $250 from Newport News for something called  " Insider Pass" that I did not sign up for but was taken out of my checking account.  I will happily take a survey for people that work to get my cash back from shady people like Newport News.

The call was in fact from the FTC...I called them regarding a consumer complaint, and will take the survey when it's a little more convenient...it was in fact in response to a call I made to them for help...

I got this call 2 times today.

This is wierd.  Caller ID comes up as "800 Service".  When first ran the number, it traced back to Chinese website. The phone number is listed there.

Typically when a number comes up as "800 Service" and not listed in a business or individual's name, it is through a PBX Box.  Essentially rent an 800 number for a penny a minute or something.  

The FTC would not use a PBX or "rent a number" system and I would report it back to the FTC to verify the validity.  Don't give out any personal info on the phone.

I travel a lot of work (IT Security) and have my voice mail transcribe to email to help keep track of personal messages when I am on the road.  This is the transcription for this call:

This is another wierd one, why is it defaulting to some internal system?  I could be a phone-jacking too.  Hard to tell.  Definitely reporting with one to IC3, the Federal Internet Crime Unit.

Thanks for posting it could be the FTC! I reported a potential fraud to the FTC yesterday and got a call from this number today. Given that their website also requested I fill a costumer satisfaction survey it's probably that same survey by phone (at least in my case).
