When this number called my home phone, the id said it was from 'COLLEGE ALERT'.  Because we suspected that it was marketing call, we did not answer it.

When they called it said on my caller id "college alert"  and I answered but no reply so I hung up.

Caller ID says College Alert... we have an unlisted number and get these phone calls all the time.

right at supper prep, college alert my foot. i have decided to do away with a land line and get a cell phone and shut it off til i want to call people. fed up with this harassment.

These calls are illegal and unwarranted

They called my work number. It said "COLLEGE ALERT" on the ID. I'm 60 years old and have no interest in college, so I ignored it. They did not leave any message.

They call everyday!!!! Just ticked me off because they woke me up at 8:00am on this day off from school!!  Says College Alert. I never answer it but you can bet next time I will & chew them out!!!

Yeah - "College Alert."  I let the ansering machine take it - they hung up - no message.  And, that's that!

I suspect that this is a political caller who has been using a long list of pseudonyms on the caller ID.  Why politicians of either party, or in this case, PACS with their own agenda, think harassing people by telephone is an effective strategy, I'll never know.  The real irony is, there have been dirty tricks operations where one side used such calls (made to appear as if they were from the opposition) to intentionally p*ss people off !  Clearly they know we hate these calls.  Anyway, here is the list of suspected names I have gathered for these clowns.

Please folks, let's avoid the temptation to turn the nature of these calls into a political flame fest.  It just degrades the quality of the site.  Both sides are guilty of these kinds of calls, and for good or ill, it is the political season, so we can expect more of these stupid calls from both sides of the fence.

This is not a political call. It's a law firm out Maryland that handles debt collections.

I am on the NO CALL LIST

I am an old woman  This call and others like it DO NOT APPLY TO ME.  
Please, please, take me off your call list and DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN!!!!!

I did not answer the call and no voice mail was left. I get calls from this number 3X a day.

My message said it was founded in 1892 as the College Republican National Committee.   So it is a political call with a college flair.   But it is a telemarketing call none the less.

If folks are really mad at these kinds of calls like they say they are. Why the heck don't they buy a Digitone Call Blocker? It will block all of these kinds of calls and it will hang up on them and your phone doesn't even ring. What more could you ask for? I bought mine and wish I would have bought one 10 years ago. I now enjoy these calls, the blocker keeps track of them and I like to check to see who got hung up on.

You got to get one. Note: you must have or get Caller ID on your land line for the blocker to work.

Just got a call from this number at 4:09 PM.
Caller ID showed "POLITICAL ALERT".
Male caller asked for me by my first name.
I asked who was calling.
He hung up.
Rude dude!

I am on the NO CALL LIST also and still receive these same calls.  In order to avoid them, I check the caller I. D. before I answer the phone.  Since every phone in the house is not equipped with caller I. D., I have to go to a phone that is if I want to know who is calling before I answer the phone.  The disruption in what I am doing at the time of their call is getting ridiculous not to mention irritating.

Never give your real number to a politician! I donated to Newt 2012 and have had over 500 phone calls from numbers like this since I started keeping track, about seven months ago. I am on the do not call list, but they exempt themselves and keep on calling. The caller ID displayed  'COLLEGE ALERT.'  Politicians give or sell your information away.
