- Gene| 6 repliesMessage left that IRS was suing me. Final notice. Call back. Never understand why they cannot be stopped. Nor why IRS makes it so difficult to report.
- Tamianth replies to Gene| 2 repliesMost of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan. That in and of itself makes it difficult to nab anyone. There are several way's to report this.. File through the FTC, by phone call or go to the web site and file a complaint. The information is below.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I browsed the below websites posted by Tamianth but very confusing as to where am i to exactly file a report. :(
- Mitch replies to GeneJust received the same info; so, I called them back and told them this was not the IRS. It was an Iranian accent. And I told them to stop harassing people. They hung up on me; so, I called them back. The people doing this are very immature and they just started talking foolishness and I said see, there is no way the IRS would be this stupid. The man started asking me if I had an opening in my company for him--very bizarre.
- Texas County Family YMCAWe received a phone call stating that this was our last notice. The IRS was filing suit against us. Call 202-455-6990 immediately. I looked up area code and found fraud site.

- FL OwlMy friend got a call from that number. Her daughter called them back and told them she was with the Sheriff's Office. What the guy said to her next is not fit to print here. To say the least, it was a very vulgar comment.
- Caller: 202-455-6990
- LMBReceived a call today from this number - and same message: we were being sued by the IRS and needed to call back immediately. Had received two calls last week with the same message - but they left a different number. We called our tax guy, and he confirmed the IRS would not call and leave a message - the IRS would sent a letter in the mail, not make a phone call like this.
- Caller: 202-455-6990
- Donald DrakeIRS call stated this was final notice they are suing me.
- Mass. HousewifeReceived a phone call, moments ago, from 1-202-455-6990 and I let it go directly to voicemail. The recorded message gave only the telephone number listed by everyone above, but I knew it had to be either be a political message or a fraudulent scam. Unfortunately, after checking the number here first, it was obviously the latter. Whatever you do, never directly respond to their direct or recorded message of false IRA accusations. As mentioned above, the IRA never contacts anyone my phone in regard to a potential audit, or actual fraud, etc. It's always done by direct mail alone. Just contact and/or file a complaint with either the IRS.gov or FTC online sites listed above on found on their websites.
- Caller: Fraudulent IRA call from DC
- klFew moments ago received a robot call from this # - let go to voicemail and lo and behold, the IRS was calling (THEY NEVER CALL) to tell me they were filing a lawsuit against me and to please call them at his #. Obviously a scam - will add my complaint to the voluminous numbers already filed with the IRS.
- Caller: Allegedly the IRS

- karen replies to Tamianth| 1 replyIf you try the IRS number - due to high volume they are not accepting calls - so you have to go the the FTC website and file the complaint that goes into the black hole. These people threatened to steal my car if I didn't pay. The best way to get rid of them is to tell them you are an attorney. They will then hang up on you. But, why do we pay so much taxes for protection from this kind of crap.
- k maxeyreceived call stating they were they were the irs and they had filed a lawsuit against - they could not identify the county i lived in nor provide a case number. when I said I was an attorney they hung up. I called them back and asked them why they hung up - they said they were going to steal my car
- Caller: IRS

- RomI got a call from these scammers telling me I owe 8k and if I didn't pay a warrent would be out for my arrest with a law suit and they read me a fake clam number and try to scare me I to paying them after he passed the phone to some else acting like a officer and wanted to drive while he stay on the phone to send these scammers money I played along with them they want older people or people that are not up to date with these types off scam, more people need to report these scam so nobody else will get scammed. Beware off this fake IRS scam they spoof there phone numbers go to the ftc website and make a compliant also
- Tamianth replies to karenThere is a report page on the IRS site as well I believe.. Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan. I highly doubt they are gonna fly over here to steal anyone's car considering.. For some reason, and you see the same MO's with the advance fee loan scams , the fake grants, and the Microscammer threads, they get vulgar, nasty, and threatening. For some reason they seem to think this kind of thing impress's us and scares us. Don't entertain these calls or any of them by calling back. Block em if you have a blocker.
Last I read, India may be on board to crack down on these calls, but you never know and have read nor heard of anything since. Otherwise, we have no jurisdiction in those country's. You also have to realize, and a lot of people do think like this, that it isn't CSI and things do not get solved in a hour... yeah, some people do think that way according to a report I read in the news awhile back. It just doesn't work like that in the real world. Here's some recent articles on the phone calls. The first is really informative...

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
